Agreed, and here comes a few token ones against the Devils to make it look more even than it has been all game, eventhough the game has been placed out of reach due in large part to their incompetence.

There's no fun in watching a game that is consistently spent on a PP/PK situation. It's boring as hell...and that's all today has been. I'd say over and entire period worth of time has been spent in something other than 5 on 5. That's a shame, especially when it's been a clean game for the most part. The penalties they're calling are just so ticky tacky, with some exceptions.

So I'm done watching. 11 minors and 1 major for the Pens, and considering the two PP goals the Devs scored were later in the penalties that adds up to about 20 minutes (rough estimate w/o the 4 on 4 and fighting) on 5 on 4. Not even taking the Devils penalties into account. AN ENTIRE PERIOD NOT AT FULL STRENGTH SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN IN A CLEAN HOCKEY GAME.

Come on now, I'm no conspiracy theorist. I'm merely a fan who thinks refs should be punished when their work isn't up to par...like every other working American/Canadian.

Chico even calling out the refs at this point. Said I'm not saying these aren't penalties but once the refs start making calls early on they feel like they have to keep making them for the rest of the game.

In regard to the refs, being consistent is one thing, being consistently bad is another.

In other words, incompetence.

When Ken Daneyko is disagreeing with calls for Jersey, you know the refs are f'n things up

He's mentioned that throughout the game. So did Ken. Thank God I didn't have to listen to Steiggy's swan song though. He's worse than any 12 year old Pens fan with a twitter account.

I feel bad for Flower, he had a pretty solid game...but a goalie can only save your team so many times when the puck is consistently in your zone. Someone needs to tell the Devs pxp guy that it's "Fleur-ee" and not "Floor-ee"...that was killing me.

I didn't see the game but reading the postings it seems like the ref's called a very tight game.

Isn't it up to the players to adjust as well if the ref's are calling it tight? Or do they just go on taking the chance that the close calls not be made?

Yeah, but it got to a point where any sort of contact whatsoever was being called. If you breathed on a guy too hard they were calling it. I'll take the points but what could've been and was a great game for a bit turned into an absolute circus in the 3rd.

You can only adjust so much. It seemed like any stick-on-body contact was a penalty, and any hit near the boards was a boarding. A lot of what they were calling penalties was just hockey.

And since no player on either team seemed to be able to adjust, I'd be willing to estimate doing so would have been asking just a little too much.
