Honest question.
If Bobby Clarke hadn't broken the leg of quite possibly the best Russian hockey player to ever live would Canada have won the series?
no. Kharlamov was taking over games.

He was having a fantastic series for CCCP, but Canada was missing Bobby Orr (injured) and Bobby Hull (not selected because he jumped ship to the WHA). Those two guys (especially Orr) would have made a heck of a difference.
Even without Orr & Hull Canada was still loaded with talent. They took the Russians lightly. It was an eye opener for the entire Hockey World.
They did take the Russians lightly and they were also horribly out of shape (no year round training like the players today).
I don't know what caused J.P. Parise to snap like that, but he reigned it in just in time...
So, who won?
I enjoyed this thread more when dash was talking to himself. Thanks to the rest of you for ruining it for me.

watching 2010 Gold medal game (Canada / USA of course)
my goodness Heatley is out of his league against these all-stars.
just looks fucking awful.
And on the flip side, Getzlaf looked great...
/what the hell happened?
I actually had deleted a note on how Getzlaf had better get his shit together or his career could follow Heatley's path.
they are dangerous when they are open, then just kind of stopped making the effort to get open.
Heatley's wheels rusted - not quite sure what happened to Getz.
still time to turn it back around for baldy, methinks
