What's the over/under on how many games Gagne actually plays for the Flyers? He's been an injury waiting to happen for the last few years.

I'm not too fussy about Homer's recycling moves involving Knuble and now Gagne.

I loved these guys in their previous stints with the Flyers, but it's time to just remember them in their glory, and not try to keep reviving it.

@DNFlyers: FWIW, Harry Zolnierczyk just said he'd gladly vacate his No. 12 jersey to pass up to Gagne. He didn't pick the number, anyway.

In other Flyers news:

#Flyers GM Paul Holmgren announced that (F) Tye McGinn will be out at least 2 weeks with a broken orbital bone

Ouch.

Great news for the Flyers, he will give them a HUGE spark. If they are interested the Sabres have a couple of defense men that should be available.

FIFY. Unfortunately it only gets tougher to avoid the injury bug as you age. How long does Gange have on his contract by the way? I imagine it's expiring (runs to capgeek)...yes, yes it is. They HAVE to be moving someone. They just brought on a $3.5M cap hit for nothing. They're able to bring on $300k+ in a contract. Question: how does the LTIR work? If they do put Pronger on there, how does that affect the cap space available? In other words: how much space do they have in reality?

Flyers are a funny case.
if they put Pronger on LTIR, they have the value of his contract in space.
but they also have some potential bonus contracts that could eat into the space next year (when the cap goes down and it REALLY matters)

Gange has been a healthy scratch in LA
I think the Kings needed to create space to bring back Martinez, and treat a player right by sending him home. They might have been able to shop him around and get a little more but sometimes you need to do the right thing. Hope the Kings see him in the playoffs. The pick goes up to a third then right;)

If the Flyers put Pronger on LTIR, they don't get the cap space back, but rather they are allowed to EXCEED the cap by an amount equal to or less than Pronger's hit; any unused cap "bubble" is forfeited. The technicality is because you don't get $50 million or whatever amount of cap space at the start of the year. Instead you get a certain amount each day of the season and each day you spend some of it on every player on your roster, and the excess here IS retained, so if you wanted to skate a team like the Islanders for most of the year and then use the savings to buy Gretsky, Orr, and Lemieux all at the deadline you can. If they just gave you the space back you might have problems with cap floor teams being FORCED to sign a player when another gets injured rather than just calling up an AHL guy.

Also, although I've no idea how we'd get him to waive the NMC, Briere would be PERFECT for the Islanders. He's paid 7 million and 6.5 cap hit this year, but the next two years he gets $5 million TOTAL. Wang would eat that right up. Flyers could probably talk him into giving up a draft pick or eating some of the returning player's cap hit. Timonen would work too but I see both the Flyers and player liking it even LESS. The Islanders would most likely give up Tavares in this scenario - his contract gets more and more expensive as his career goes on. Of course, he has a no-movement clause too, so he'd have to be convinced to waiHAHAHAHAHAHA he'd probably write up the trade himself. Also, I don't know if even Wang is dumb enough to make that trade.

If the Kings see him in the playoffs then even if Gagne doesn't play a minute this season I'd be fucking THRILLED.

Can we just use this as the GNT tonight? That'd be kinda appropriate, I think.
