With Alain Vigneault being the Rangers head coach for the 2013-14 season and beyond,no doubt Slats most likely would have kept Gaborik.Oh Well, like they say hindsight is always 20/20.

Good point, sort of strange how they traded Gaborik to show support for Tortorella, yet they fired Tortorella anyways. I think the important thing was to get rid of Tortorella. He did some good things for the team, but his shelf life was over and he was doing more harm than good.

Yeah DDD.Torts had his share of ups and down but like you said he wore out his welcome. To bad some players had to go either directly or indirectly because of him.Oh we'll.Really looking forward to 2013-14.With the new Conference format it should be interesting. You guys keeping Letang was huge plus I think you got Scuderi back. Can't wait for the new season.Anyways good to see you on here DDD we had some talks on the now defunct ESPN board.Had the same handle.Good to hear from you.Keep in touch.Later

Doesnt bother me Gaborik always disappeared during the Playoffs anyway he was out of excuses. That and Brassard and Moore I think are better going forward. We needed a number 2 center behind Stephan and Moore gives us even better defense depth. so we filled needed holes by getting rid of a guy who we spent way to much on to begin with.

I just wished we would have bought out Richards and possibly made a trade or two to get a little bit more offense.

I agree they got good pieces for Gaborik at the end, but leading up to that trade, it seemed as if the motivation behind the trade was to show support for John Tortorella. Really odd that they would trade Gaborik & fire Tortorella. Looking back, maybe it was the right move, maybe Brassard will be a better player for the team, maybe Vigneault will prove to be a better coach, At the same time, the thing that seems odd is the motivation behind the trade. If they traded Gaborik to show support to Tortorella, why fire Tortorella anyways?
