That's a bummer since he has looked good and I really think he could have a monster bounce back season. The season doesn't start for a month, so maybe he only misses 4 weeks. But this doesn't bode well for a guy who is pretty injury prone and missed significant time last year.

Marian Gaborik's injury could be a costly one for Kings

That 69 games he played in in 2014-15 for LA was the most he had played in 5 years to that point. He was starting to heat up in January when he went down for the last 30 games or so earlier this year. The Kings could be looking at him missing 18 games to start the season, and that is if he has no set backs which I don't think we can assuredly say is not possible considering how much this guy gets hurt. I get nervous thinking about this guy waking up, pulling a Kevin Lowe and the icy stairs at home incident.

Puts even more pressure on Turdcell, Brown and Pearson to pick up the slack already left by Lucic and now Gaborik.

Kings put forward Marian Gaborik on IR with broken foot

According to LA Kings Insider, by not placing on Long-Term IR, the Kings won't get any more cap space.
That makes me think they're not looking for any kind of trade. Probably just content to sign Setoguchi for league minimum and squeeze him under the cap.

Bingo. They will be riding this team until the injured guys get back. Setoguchi hasn't looked bad but I think he will be the first guy to be sent packing once Gaborik returns.
