Game day again, 730pm on ESPN it is saying. Ms. Puck I is headed here from AZ, Ms Puck II's 15th birthday is tomorrow so the two sisters will be spending some time together which I think is cool. Pucky Jr I is on day 2 of his DC trip so he isn't here but Pucky Jr II will be here tomorrow and Thursday so at least the three can hang out. Always great when all my kids are together, Junior I returns Friday night at 11pm so Saturday night we will all go out for either hibachi or Korean BBQ (anyone had this? I never have - any good?) to celebrate together.
Had Korean BBQ a few times and its pretty good. They bring you several sides but they are very small portions so you will have to keep ordering the ones you want more of. Same with the meat. Also, if you dont know, you cook your own meat in the middle of the table. Again, the meat is shaved very thin and there isnt a lot for everyone, so you will have to keep ordering the items you want more of.
Should be some changes in the lineup tonight, I expect the Kings to rest some guys and others like B6 guys to get more playing time. Rittich expected to start and the Kings recalled defenseman Caleb Jones on an emergency recall basis. That doesn't correlate to any Buster theory that he is injured, it most likely means someone else on D got injured, I'm expecting Doughty sit or they will run the 11/7 tonight. Thomas, Burroughs and Lewis are available to slot in and I expect Thomas to finally get a game in. Dude's last game was March 1 against the Blues - ouch. Just a lot of unknowns tonight for the lineup. Jeannot and Edmundson still in LA.

The Kraken have given the Kings some problems this season, and with home ice and PD2 locked up it's hard to say how this game will go since we don't have any real roster updates. Tonight is their season finale so there guys are still auditioning or fighting for contracts so I expect them to put out an NHL caliber team and not mail it in. I really don't know what to make of that team, they have this PO appearance in year two but have been garbage before and after. Can't say it's the Vegas treatment, the same rules applied to them as it did Vegas but some guys just didn't seem to make the leap and they announced they would be slashing ticket prices and putting in concession discounts next season. Seems to me those are moves you make when the novelty has worn off. They still have some good pieces and Schwartz is having a solid season again, he's at 25 goals after hitting a career high of 28 10 years ago.

But they are playing some of their best hockey of the season since the TDL (.556 W%) so I expect another solid effort against LA no matter who they ice. Their PP has been horrible though, only one PPG in the last 24 tries going across the last 8 games. Those are pre TDL Kings numbers right there. Good opportunity for LA to work on the PK if they have an outing like last night with the penalties everywhere. But this also isn't a dirty Edmonton team so I'm not expecting that type of game. But for whatever reason they play LA tight.

Prediction: no matter who the Kings ice, this is where thee perceived depth comes into play. On paper no matter who suits up they are the better team, but I think the Kings are due for a win against them so I'll say a tight defensive 2-1 Kings win with goals by Mallott and TOTM. Dunno insults them again by calling them a C team and Buster gets two celebratory assists from the press box after hearing Nurse is suspended for 2 games
As for the game itself, I missed the first period and change. Spent some time with the wife watching reruns of Psych (love this show). Judging by the shot totals when I turned it on, looks like the Kings were outplayed but still up a couple of goals. Since there wasnt much at stake I just had the game on in the backrgound. It was a pretty entertaining game but ended up closer than it should have been.

Nurse only getting one game is a joke and it seems as DOPS just throws darts at a board to see what the suspension should be. What a joke!!
Let's Go Kings!

Sounds good, it'll be a group of us (7 I believe, maybe 8 - pops footing the bill of course haha) so I'll keep that in mind. About 25 years ago I had a GF who was Vietnamese and she took me to a place called Greenfield in Long Beach, I think it was on PCH. Vietnamese 7 course meal, sounds very similar as we had to cook our own meat at the table and it was tasty. Korean BB is a favorite of my daughter so I'm excited to try it out, we've done hibachi a million times it seems.

It was definitely a strange game, Kings had a 4 goal lead with 14 minutes remaining. I didn't expect the usual shut down Kingy game considering the line up but I also wasn't expecting a wild shootout.

One thing that did catch my eye and loops back to the Season Thread where we discussed FA and who may/may not be back, I think Rittich's time is done in LA. He just has not looked as good as last season; good teammate, very well liked from everything I have read, apparently a joker in the locker room but just not a viable solution to backup goalie anymore.

That leads me to believe even more Portillo will be up next season as back up to Kuemper and Copley will be given a shot too compete with him again. But with Copley up in LA that leaves Portillo and George splitting time in Ontario with no real veteran presence in goal. On the FA market there are only 15 UFAs and only two have a SP% over .900 (Allen 34 and Forsberg 32 - not exactly young) so there are limited options.

Nurse only getting one game is a joke and it seems as DOPS just throws darts at a board to see what the suspension should be. What a joke!!

Ridiculous. I also was mistaken, this is his fourth suspension and he has been fined 5 times for his reckless behavior. The Oilers remain the league's star child, I'm surprised they suspended McJesus earlier this season for 4 games after he went his killing spree in one week. If that was Edmundson doing that to McDavid or Draisaitl that's a minimum 5 games.

But this is also an opportunity for LA - now they have seen they can get away with egregious behavior so if things start unraveling just start dropping bodies left and right and push the envelope if you have to. Clearly there aren't severe repercussions if you do that.

Really hoping Jeannot returns for the POs, he will be a major deterrent preventing this stuff.

Another place you may want to try (not if you are paying for 7 peeps) is Fogo De Chao sp? If you likw Brazillion BBQ and tons of meat thats the place to go. Sounds like you arent too far from the Irvine spectrum where they have one. There is also another in San Diego. Guarenteed you will walk out with the meat sweats

Been there, the Pasadena location. Another good one is Texas De Brazil, also a Brazilian steakhouse, been to the one at Tustin Marketplace. Good food at both places. TDB was a client of mine about 10-12 years ago for HR, payroll, risk and safety. Restaurant industry is full of frauds, slip and falls in obscured camera areas, purported back injuries, sexual harassment, etc.

They opened up a new Fogo De Chao in Brea by the mall not long ago, I am about 16 miles from there in Yorba Linda. Brea is our main mall I go to although I hate the mall (but the kids like to go). This Fogo location is absolutely awful, it's on the corner of Imperial Highway and State College - extremely busy -, the parking sucks and you get a wonderful view of the backed up traffic and accidents as you eat, the 57S on ramp is right there.

The Spectrum is about 25-28 miles south of me, I'm there a few times a year - 91 to the 133 to the 5. Lots of good places there, was just there in late January but at Cheesecake Factory while the daughter had a dinner date with a stupid boy. She was all pissed when she found out I was at the same restaurant but in a different sitting location, I got there first and they walked round and chose it after I'd already been in there haha.

I made the mistake of riding the Harley to Texas De Brazil last time with coworkers, terrible idea. I felt so fat and bloated and went into a food coma on the ride back home, you have to be alert on a bike especially one that weighs 1000 pounds. Don't recommend that at all.

I had no idea there was a Fogo in Brea. We have been going to the one in the Spectrum. Brea is much closer to me as well. If its near Cheesecake factory then yes, horrible location. Its really difficult to just walk into that Cheesecake. There seems to always be a line out of the door. I will be checking out Texas De Brazil in Rancho. Always looking for good places to eat. HAHA.
Used to play roller hockey in Brea (cant remember the name of the place) and would go to the Hat after games.

Thats funny. I would hate to see how I would if I had a daughter and she went out on a date. I was strict enough having a stepson

They opened this one up in Dec 2023, so its barely been two years:

And you're spot on, it's across the street from Cheesecake on the SW corner of Imperial and State College. It's a mess getting in and out of there and those giant glass windows face Imperial and State College, one each. Yeah, I want to watch traffic and hear car horns and crashes while I spend $300 on a dinner for two. Awesome.

And agreed, that Cheesecake is the worst. Terrible service and slow as mud. Seems a lot of teeny boppers go there vs adults but that makes sense since it's basically part of the Brea Mall which is inundated with kids which is the main reason why I hate going.

Used to play roller hockey in Brea (cant remember the name of the place) and would go to the Hat after games.

When was this? I don't remember a roller rink in Brea but what's now the food court inside Brea Mall was once an ice rink.

When I played roller I played in HB, Corona or Irvine*. Ice was Garden Grove, YL or Lake Forest in OC but after we moved to CA in 1986 only Pickwick in Burbank was around so my dad took me there from the South Bay where we lived for 3 years before moving to OC.

After about a year of him learning CA traffic being from Ohio he said find another sport kid, this drive sucks.

Thats funny. I would hate to see how I would if I had a daughter and she went out on a date. I was strict enough having a stepson

We raised these kids right, I have to say I'm a lot of crap, mostly not good, but one thing I did right was being a dad. Strict enough growing up to where they are respectful, honest, good kids but also gave them enough leash to explore, learn and make mistakes. Because of that I really don't have to worry about them getting into trouble because they know better. They'll make the right decision with or without me, if I was an Army Sargeant of a parent they'd all end up rebellious like me. They are the complete opposite.

And the really funny thing about this night was it was winter formal, and for whatever strange reason the school district decided to have it outdoors at the Spectrum, five high schools and it was drizzling. Who's freaking genius idea was this?

My daughter told me earlier she didn't want to go to WoFo (as these kids call it. Umm that doesn't even sound like Homecoming or HoCo but whatever) so her and boy were going to do their own thing. I said OK but then she says Spectrum, I told her so you're going to the exact same place where 5 high school winter formals will be, absolutely crowded and the waits for restaurants will be ridiculous? That's absolutely brilliant baby girl.

=)~~

My GF and.I took her down there, she met up with him, we walked around and waited maybe 20 minutes to get seated at Cheesecake where we ate outside because it was so packed. Apparently the two teenagers had to wait 45 minutes because everyone from every school was waiting as wwll.

*I subbed for Pez once (remember him?) in Anaheim off Kraemer and the 91 (I think this rink moved and became Corona Inline amd now just The Rinks owned by the Ducks) drunk AF because it was a last second call and I'd been at the bar for hours, I tripped over the bottom dasher stepping onto the rink during warm ups. Embarassing.

Not my best game but still managed to play well and contribute, I have a rocket for a shot so he just kept saying get it on from the point, we will do the rest haha.

It had to be around the late 90's early 00's. I cant remember the name if rink (maybe a Gretzkys not sure). It was in an industrial area off the 57/Lambert near Beryl I believe. Played there for a few years before it closed. It was an indoor rink.
We ened up playing in West Covina, Corona, Glendora, La Verne and maybe a couple of seasons in Santa Ana or Garden Grove cant remember.
When I played roller I played in HB, Corona or Irvine*. Ice was Garden Grove, YL or Lake Forest in OC but after we moved to CA in 1986 only Pickwick in Burbank was around so my dad took me there from the South Bay where we lived for 3 years before moving to OC.
I played a season of Ice in Anaheim. It was hard to play there as there are Dux signs everywhere. Also, the schedule was crazy. There would be games at all times of the night. I believe the last game was around midnight and it was just not worth it playing a late game and having to work the next morning.
After about a year of him learning CA traffic being from Ohio he said find another sport kid, this drive sucks.

Being a stepdad wasnt the easiest. They were both good kids at the time (now in their 30's/40's) but there were times where it was very difficult. Congrats on how the kiddos turned out. And, in regards to your past, its not how you start, its how you finish. We are all a work in progress.
