Don't be a jabroni.
Game day again, 730pm on ESPN it is saying. Ms. Puck I is headed here from AZ, Ms Puck II's 15th birthday is tomorrow so the two sisters will be spending some time together which I think is cool. Pucky Jr I is on day 2 of his DC trip so he isn't here but Pucky Jr II will be here tomorrow and Thursday so at least the three can hang out. Always great when all my kids are together, Junior I returns Friday night at 11pm so Saturday night we will all go out for either hibachi or Korean BBQ (anyone had this? I never have - any good?) to celebrate together.
Should be some changes in the lineup tonight, I expect the Kings to rest some guys and others like B6 guys to get more playing time. Rittich expected to start and the Kings recalled defenseman Caleb Jones on an emergency recall basis. That doesn't correlate to any Buster theory that he is injured, it most likely means someone else on D got injured, I'm expecting Doughty sit or they will run the 11/7 tonight. Thomas, Burroughs and Lewis are available to slot in and I expect Thomas to finally get a game in. Dude's last game was March 1 against the Blues - ouch. Just a lot of unknowns tonight for the lineup. Jeannot and Edmundson still in LA.
The Kraken have given the Kings some problems this season, and with home ice and PD2 locked up it's hard to say how this game will go since we don't have any real roster updates. Tonight is their season finale so there guys are still auditioning or fighting for contracts so I expect them to put out an NHL caliber team and not mail it in. I really don't know what to make of that team, they have this PO appearance in year two but have been garbage before and after. Can't say it's the Vegas treatment, the same rules applied to them as it did Vegas but some guys just didn't seem to make the leap and they announced they would be slashing ticket prices and putting in concession discounts next season. Seems to me those are moves you make when the novelty has worn off. They still have some good pieces and Schwartz is having a solid season again, he's at 25 goals after hitting a career high of 28 10 years ago.
But they are playing some of their best hockey of the season since the TDL (.556 W%) so I expect another solid effort against LA no matter who they ice. Their PP has been horrible though, only one PPG in the last 24 tries going across the last 8 games. Those are pre TDL Kings numbers right there. Good opportunity for LA to work on the PK if they have an outing like last night with the penalties everywhere. But this also isn't a dirty Edmonton team so I'm not expecting that type of game. But for whatever reason they play LA tight.
Prediction: no matter who the Kings ice, this is where thee perceived depth comes into play. On paper no matter who suits up they are the better team, but I think the Kings are due for a win against them so I'll say a tight defensive 2-1 Kings win with goals by Mallott and TOTM. Dunno insults them again by calling them a C team and Buster gets two celebratory assists from the press box after hearing Nurse is suspended for 2 games.
Let's Go Kings!
