Don't be a jabroni.
Game day again, 1pm start on FDS. I decided I'll watch the first period and then go catch the rest of his baseball game since it's right up the street. They're having a good season at 6-3-1 with about 11-12 games left. Junior IIs flag team is terrible, they got smoked last night - so bad I don't even know what the score was - and are 0-3 but he's easily the best player on that team, he had a good game. Cant wait for Pop Warner though, flag is just too foo foo for me and the parents are something else.
Doesn't look like any changes coming up, Kuemper to start and the usual lineup they've been running with the 12/6. With the early start time there was no skate held this morning. Thomas, Lewis, Moverare and Burroughs the expected scratches again.
The Canes went through a mini slump with that whole Rantanen fiasco but since then they've done nothing but win. They're currently riding an 8 game win streak and are 9-1-0 in their last ten putting up 3.37 GPG but during that stretch their defensive game is even better than LAs at allowing only 1.25 GAPG. That is an insane number, Kochetkov the expected starter today.
Know what that means? It'll be a grind it out type game with two defensively good teams but it'll be harder for LA since they rank 23rd in team offense. The Canes have some very good players like Jarvis but Svechnikov is still out. Once he comes back they'll have even more fire power.
They are an interesting team in the sense that they always seem to be on the cusp of contender but then fizzle out somehow in the POs. Regardless they're a good team, they have an aggressive forechecking style putting relentless pressure on in their offensive zone to create turnovers. Kings D will need to be quick and sharp and the forwards will need to be ready to accept passes and get out of their zone. Not the game to try some stupid fancy behind the back no look passes or be cute with the puck. Keep it simple - yes I'm speaking to you Buster and Gavrikov.
Prediction: the Kings could set a franchise record today with their 13th home game with a point but I don't see it happening. They generated 4 goals in the last two games with one being an EN, and the Canes are firing on all cylinders. Canes 4-1, lone Kings goal by Dexter, this is a game built for him having to go to the paint to score.
