Don't be a jabroni.
Game day again, 730pm on FDS. Junior II has flag practice 5-6pm but apart from that should be home and catch the whole game. Doing some meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans for dinner tonight - great comfort food on cold and rainy days.
Kings aren't changing anything up so it looks like the same 12/6 set up with Kuemper in net. Burroughs, Moverare, Thomas and Lewis expected to be the scratches. No coincidence L4 has played better with Helenius in and Lewis out.
Lot of storylines on this one, first Ovechkin is 9 goals away from breaking Gretzkys goal record which is nuts if you think about it. I don't think any of us thought that would ever be broken yet here we are. Had he not missed about 10 games earlier this season he probably would have broken it sooner, if it doesn't happen this season it definitely will next season. He's 39 years old and somehow has 33 goals, that's crazy for a relic.
Second one is Roy is coming back to LA for the first time this season and I expect him to get a tribute video, he was solid as a King and he's having a good season as usual in Washington as a SAH defender. I still don't understand how Blake let that happen and he walked for nothing, RH defenders are a commodity and he could have gotten a 1st out of it like Walker did. Another botched asset management tick.
And lastly and the biggest one, PLD returns "home". I say that loosely because it felt more like he rented an apartment than made LA his residence. He's having a stellar season, I've been reading all kinds of stuff about him and he is what exactly the Kings thought they were getting- a solid, two way center who puts up points. But when you're banished to L3 with Name Plate and Arty Retardy that isn't going to work. I fully expect fans to boo him and while it may be partially justified the Kings didn't help matters much either. I hope they just leave the guy alone but I have an inkling he's going to be a menace tonight. Would be hilarious if they made a tribute video and it was only his Tour of LA clips.
Of course that also means Kuemper will face off against the team he absolutely sucked for and lost his starting gig tonight. Kuemper is having a good season but on Teh Blog Dooly said he should be in consideration for the Vezina. Slow your roll there big dog, he's as much a product of the Kings defensive system as he is a capable goalie. He hasn't played lights out, he's played solid overall. Not Vezina caliber IMO, he hasn't stolen too many games.
Can't be giving up 8 PPs to the Caps, they are the top team in the league and have the best road record as well. With the Kings having the best home record, something is going to give tonight. It was Clarke who said they earned that Isles win, clearly not versed enough to know a solid effort vs suns and moons aligning to get a W which is exactly what happened. That won't fly tonight, Caps have won 5 in a row too.
Prediction: Kings fall 4-2, the Caps are just that good. Goals by Buster so Kingsters can say "he's arrived" (some on Teh Blog call him Beast. Uhh...OK) and Spence. Kings PP anemic again and Wilson and Jeannot get into a scrap.
Let's Go Kings!
