Don't be a jabroni.
Game day again, 6pm start on FDS. I thought the 2 weeks off between games would drag on but that tournament went quick and here we are again. I'll probably catch the game at home, Ms Puck II is going to dinner with a friend at 530pm so I'll drop her off and come watch a bit and go pick her up again.
Doughty did not skate after coming back from the 4 Nations, getting some rest and he played well in the tournament so he should be rounding into shape. Kempe did since Sweden was eliminated earlier in the week and the Kings will have a full line up tonight. Looks like Kuemper is back in after missing the last two games for personal reasons (new dad stuff I'm assuming) and Jill will run the 11/7 tonight. Predicted line up:
15/11/9
37/24/12 (please scratch this guy)
22/55/14
10/61 (please scratch this guy too)
44/84
6/8
43/21

Thomas and Burroughs available to check in if they go 12/6 but not anticipating that. Interesting that Clarke is the seventh defender, means he will get minimal playing time when the rotation starts. I'd just move him to RW4, not like he's going to be shutting anyone down anyway so see if the fourth line can generate some offense. Clarke’s ATOI has been dropping since G20 or so, means staff has reservations about him and they have been deploying him in sheltered minutes. Still waiting to see what was so "dynamic" about this dude besides his weird skating style. Also expecting Turcotte to have his confidence eroded some more by not getting to play much in third periods running the 11/7.
Utah should see our old pal Durzi back tonight, he's missed the last 52 games with a shoulder injury. For some reason I want to day he missed some significant time when with LA a few years ago (I could be wrong), is he just brittle or what? That's a long time to miss especially when they invested 4 years/$24 million just a few months before.
He has been paired with another ex King in Maata who is solid but not spectacular so expect Durzi doing Durzi things. He may have provided some offense here but good lord was his D game awful. Anyone remember that dumbass stretch pass in the 2022 season opener in OT from behind the Kings net that was picked off in the NZ, came right back in and game over? Hoping he plays his risky style of hockey tonight and the Kings capitalize.
Clayton Keller has been a solid hockey player for some time, I didn't even realize he has 60 points (20G) already. Pretty quiet and would lead all Kings by a wide margin. Utah has won three of the last four but lost 5 I believe prior to that. They are 6 points out of WC2 so this is a big game for them. Kings starting the back half of three at home, well rested and should be ready to go.
Prediction: Kings 4-3 in OT. Goals by Kopitar, Dunno, Fiala and Lewis of all people so Nick Nickson cam say he's a Utah native for the 2000th time. Buster running around but standing still per usual, expecting yet another secondary assist originating from 140 feet away that had nothing to do with the goal.
Let's Go Kings!
