Don't be a jabroni.
It's game day, 730pm on FDS. I'll be watching at home and cleaning, I'm hosting a Super Bowl party Sunday with about 30 guests coming. Lot of crap to do before then so trying to jump ahead of it. Call me anal retentive but I have 2 dogs and 3 cats and their fur is just caked on the baseboards so that's tonight's project, never really noticed it until the other day and it's bugging the hell out of me.
Nothing really new to report, Kuemper had his second kid yesterday so he didn't skate with the team and Rittich is expected to start but Kuemper will back up, With his being a B2B with Anaheim tomorrow night, that's when we should see him to close out the home games before the 4 Nations Tournament. It's going to be strange not having any NHL hockey for two weeks, I've never really watched international hockey much - just not my thing. But with no NHL hockey this will do and I'll be watching Kempe and Sweden, I just hope he doesn't get hurt in the tournament.
The Kings have ran the 12/6 for several games but a few days ago Jill stated the 11/7 would come back but he didn't say when. Anderson is still out with the hand injury so I don't think we will see him tonight or tomorrow, best to rest up with the 2 weeks off and come back after the break. With him out I don't expect to see the 11/7 as that would mean Burroughs or Englund would have to check in but these two guys need to get into a game soon. Not good when players sit for too long.
The Kings have won two in a row now (yet are still 4-5-1 in their last 10, shows how bad that skid in January was) using the 12/6 so if it ain't broke don't fix it. Personally I like the 12/6 better because it taxes players less and allows chemistry so their isn't some third player rotating in with a paired duo but on the flip it also allows players to experience what it's like to play with someone who maybe they normally wouldn't play with. Pros and cons to both I suppose.
Dallas is a tough out, they are sitting in CD2 10 points behind Winnipeg at 69. I don't think they'll catch the Jets at this point of the season unless something seriously goes sideways for Winnipeg but the Wild are right behind them with 68 points and the Avalanche sit in WC1 with 66 points so this is an important game for the Stars as well. The Stars are 6-4 in their last 10 and had won 5 in a row until they lost to Anaheim on Tuesday (shows any team can beat any team on any given night).
With the race so tight between CD2, CD3 and WC1 between the 3 teams expect Dallas to come out hard. They are a big, heavy, mobile team with seven 10+ goal scorers (Hintz leading at 22, Robertson right behind at 19 and the ageless Duchene with 18 somehow) and young talent like Stankoven who's having a down year but has shown what he can do. They have some depth. Expecting Oettenger to start since he took the loss against the Kings back in December 3-2. Seguin is still on LTIR and they took a big hit with Heiskanen out who had knee surgery in late January but Thomas Harley has been eating up his minutes and is a star in the making.
Should be a good game and a big test for LA, see how they stack up against a Central team which is a tougher division IMO. Prediction: Stars 4-2 with goals by Fiala and Jeannot, with Buster getting the secondary assists in the first and second intermission while taking a dump.
Let's Go Kings!
