Don't be a jabroni.
Well, it's officially here, G1 of the POs. Game time is 7pm on FDS as well as on ESPN2 locally, for our out of market folks it'll be ESPN2 only. I'll be watching on FDS so my ears don't bleed with that crew. Debating on meatloaf or lasagna tonight for dinner, will know after I pick up Ms Puck II from softball practice at 530.
It's also the GFs first ever PO game, I said you're in for a treat. She's a quick learner, we grabbed some food and drinks last night while Ms Puck II was out and I wrote out how the divisions work, the conferences, seeding, etc and she picked it up like that. I'm going to sport a jersey tonight watching, most likely my #10 Richards one. We will find out if I need to change that for G2.
Nothing new to report, the full line up is in sans Jeannot. Thomas, Lewis, Moverare and Burroughs the expected scratches and Kuemper to start. Copley has been recalled on an emergency basis, don't know what that means for Rittich as I haven't seen anything on him getting hurt.
I linked earlier in the PO thread for Edmonton Kane, Stetcher and Ekholm out, Skinner to start. Dude has a 3.03 GAA and .899 SP% against LA the last three POs but is somehow 3-0 in the series. He can thank McJesus and Draisaitl for that because he isn't a reliable goalie. Hope the Kings take advantage of that and we see some Skinner Specials.
This is the best Kings team in the four meetings so I'm absolutely expecting a much different series. But certain things have to change, specifically not allowing a near 50% PP rate for Edmonton and subsequently staying out of the box. I can live with the roughing calls and all that, it's the hooking, holding, etc I'll be annoyed at - means you aren't moving your feet and you got burned. As always there will be four extras on the ice in black and white for Edmonton so if you're going to take a penalty make it count and try and take someone with you.
I do want some type of retaliation for the Buster nonsense but only when the game is secured or if it's out of hand and a loss is coming. Was really hoping Jeannot would be available but latest update is he out for at least G1 and G2.
Otherwise play hard, physical, and forecheck - their D is banged up, Brown is huge and physical but he sucks and it's always an adventure with Nurse back there. Pin them in and make them work because once that puck gets to 29 or 97 it could turn bad real fast.
Kings have home ice this time around, first time since 2016. Crowd will be pumped, there will be initial adrenaline and jitters from newbies like Glass Boy, Helenius, Mallott but I think they'll settle down soon after. Prediction, Kings take this one 4-2 with goals by Fiala, Kuzmenko, Kempe and Laferriere. McJesus and Arvidsson for Edmonton because of course he will score against his former team after being pretty useless all season long for them.
Let's Go Kings!
