Fun trades(for fun only)

So sitting here waiting for something to happen is too boring so I decided I thought I would come with my own block buster trade that we could discuss just for fun.


Ok so this involves 5 teams to start with and mainly just caters to my needs to make the Flyers wtf pwn everyone else. The teams are LA, Boston, Toronto, Anaheim & Philly(obviously). I am basically just taking a few pre-existing trade rumors and consolidating them into one major trade with the attempt of making everyone happy. So here goes…


This is all contingent on LA signing Kovy.

1. Philly sends Matt Carle(3.5m) to Boston for Mark Savard(4m) and a 2nd round pick. Boston has a pretty good defense to start with but having another young smooth skaing puck moving defensemen at a decent cap hit is never a bad thing(this also frees them up to maybe trade one of their current D for pick/prospect).
2. Philly sends Scott Hartnell(4.2m) to Toronto for Tomas Kaberle(4.25m) maybe be some picks involed one way or another. Harts is the type of player Burke loves and we al know he is licking his chops at the prospect of removing Kaberle at this point.
3. Philly sends Jeff Carter(5m), Mark Savard, Tomas Kaberle and Boston’s second rounder to LA for Anze Kopitar(6.8m), Dustin Brown(3.2m,) Jack Johnson(1.8m) & Johnathan Quick(1.8m). This would give LA 2 top 6 forwards when their losing 2 and a decent pick.
4. Philly sends Anze Kopitar(6.8m) to Anaheim for Bobby Ryan(5m?) and a 1st round pick(being Phillys first rounder from this year that they own due to the pronger trade), Philly then sends that 1st rounder to LA.

This would leave these teams with the following cap hits.

Philly=53m
LA= 51m(with Kovy signing for 10m)
Toronto=61m(but cap geek says they have 2m in space this # wodl stay the same)
Boston= 57m
Anaheim= 50m


I think this series of trade would actually be pretty fair all the way around and most of the teams mentioned would get something they either want/have inquired about or could just desperately use.

So what do you guys think, please remember this is mostly just for fun(even though I would love life if this actually happened).

btw -- any possible trade involving Hartnell is always good idea in my book! lol

I love your Idea. We both know it would never happen, but yea it would be fun to think about it. I will try to come up with one later to match your scheme.

Not be rain on your parade, but every one of those trades are extremely one sided. I know they arent rumors or anything and you are just having fun, but yea. Gotta make them more fair.

only 2 i thought were unfair would be the first and last.. no way boston gives up a savard AND a 2nd for carle.. maybe if it was a 2nd and carle for savard..

same goes for kopitar for ryan AND a 1st.. kopitar for ryan+ i agree, and maybe since the 1st will be a late first (hopefully) it might be ok.. but i would say kopitar for ryan and a 3rd would be better..

cool players included though, i definitely think all teams involved could use the players mentioned (i especially like the flyers turn out haha).. i just think anaheim and boston are giving up a bit too much for what they get back

Coburn (or Carle), JvR, and a pick for Doughty. Maybe Lombardi will consider before slamming down the phone and laughing.

One of my favorite 'Art' moments: JvR and a 2nd or 3rd for Jeff Deslauriers and Taylor Hall. LMAO.

Not the 2nd rounder, which belongs to Phoenix as a result of the Carcillo trade, or the fifth, which is Detroit's in exchange for Ville Leino.

Swear to God, it's a neg-rep to anyone who even mentions how bad the Upshall trade was. We know, get over it.

I totally forgot i write this up, I think it was the first time LA was out of the Kovy race. It was just for fun and I know some of it was a bit unreasonable(the savard + pick for Carle) but most of what I brought up was at one time or another some sort of rumor. Well except Kopitar for Ryan I just thought that would help Anaheim out since I think it's pretty clear Ryan doesn't want to play in the west or sign a contract over 3yrs.

I'd be interested to see other peoples "fun trade" ideas.
