How true. A number of years back, a few friends of mine and I made a group bet to predict the total won/loss records of the entire league. It wasn't much, just $20 each into the pool. When I checked the results of each I noticed the others never bothered to double check the won-loss totals and none of them were balanced, in fact everyone had win heavy tallies, which is why I bolded your last sentence. It's not that my predictions were all that spot on, but the totals were balanced, so I knew I was going to win just based on this. Of course the weasel that I am never mentioned their errors until the season got underway and yes I ended up winning the pool.

I would have behaved the same way. Not my place to stop people making bad bets.
