Its unfortunate but it happens all the time. I wish every detail could be left to friends and family, but this country does not work that way. If there is a story to something, someone is going to find out.

That may be true, but I'm still going to hate on Larry Brooks for being the guy to do it.

From the article...

As loved ones, friends, teammates and the extended hockey world mourn the loss of Derek Boogaard and await the findings of an autopsy performed today in Minneapolis, The Post has learned that the 28-year-old Rangers’ winger had been receiving counseling in the NHL/NHLPA Substance Abuse & Behavioral Health Program in the weeks prior to his death last night.

Sources close to the situation stressed it would not only be unfair to draw inferences...

...but this is exactly what the complete rag New York Post would love you to think by making a headline that runs counter to the rest of the article to sell more papers.

Fucking awful.

I'm sorry but the public's right to know should never outweigh a family's right to privacy....just another reason why I'm starting to hate the world a little more everytime I start a new day

Actually, that depends entirely on the circumstances. I think never is an inappropriate word.

The guy died in his own apartment. Nobody is in danger b/c a murderer is on the loose or anything. The autopsy needs to be performed and the family deserves some privacy prior to that from speculation that casts him in a negative light. Especially when that is all it is - speculation.

Just because people want to know, does not mean they have a right or need to know. Those are two different things, and the media today rarely (if ever) differentiates that.

We live in a world of Wiki leaks now....nothing is private anymore and never will be again....if there is a story to be told, no matter how confidential, somebody will expose it....right or wrong...
