Eric Lueshen was openly gay in the early to mid-2000’s and he wrote a piece on how his teammates and coaches treated him after he came out.

He said Ron Brown treated him like every other guy on the team and went out of his way to help him succeed on the field, in life and as a man. He also said 3 other coaches actually treated him horribly, but didn’t name names. Brown wasn’t one of them.

I don’t agree with firing anyone because they’re gay. I have no idea how that is right in God’s eyes. But I do believe at the core Ron Brown is a great human-being. I think he’s misunderstanding some parts of his own religion.

There is not an ounce of actual hatred in that man’s heart though. I understand how what he says implies that he hates gay people, but quite simply that is not true.

The only people's opinion that I care to listen to about Ron Brown is the players' since those are the people, past and present that he has direct interaction and influence with. And I cannot recall any player to date that has said Ron Brown was a bad influence on them, regardless of race, religion or sexuality.
