I just noticed that Buffalo has almost $37M in cap space. is that real? holy crap. Canucks are in for almost $16M which is interesting as well.

And I think that'd be the right decision - the Wild need to have some cap room to lock up their younger players - they have to pay a lot of them real soon

Hemsky almost certainly won't be back in Ottawa. He turned down a 3 year/$10M deal and says he will test he market.

Some team will probably pay him $5M per for 2-3 years. It's a pretty high risk/reward move. We saw what he could do with a decent center in Ottawa. We've also seen what happens when he has to carry a line or play in less than ideal situations (Edmonton the last 4-5 years).

I've always been a big fan and wish he'd be back in Ottawa next year but his uneven play combined with a pretty bad injury history makes him a big risk.


Milan Michalek will probably re-sign in Ottawa.

I hope not. Him, Moulson and Squidy are the three I think I'd most like to see here.

I'm willing to overpay to get Stastny on the Devils. They have the caproom to add one top tier guy (possibly 2 if they decide to buy somebody out). I think if they want to add 2 impact players they can do one free agent and trade for another.
