I still think it's a bit much, but Frank Gore still deserves a lot of respect. Guy is a fighter. I think if they tandem him and keep his carries at MAX 200 (would even argue 150) he could help that team. He's a great blocker, downhill runner.

That's actually higher than the reported Philly offer, which was in the $10 million to $11 million range, based on reports.

Phili actually dodged a bullet on this one IMO.

A Gore signing reeks of a Atl signing Steven Jackson, Oakland signing MJD, Jet's signing Chris Johnson, type move IMO. The odds of it being a solid impact move always seem a lot higher the moment they sign the contract than it does the first time you see them in a new uniform.

1) More Money
2) A very similar offense than the one he has played in the last 3 or 4 years.
3) A better team.
4) Did I mention more money?

Gore in that Phili offense never made sense to me. The last thing a bruising 32 year old RB needs to do after grinding out a couple of tough yards is sprint back to the LOS for the next snap.

And that's the reason players should leak the deal info and teams never should....

Yes, I know... they'd tell the teams if they asked...but still

Ive been writing off Gore for the past 2 years and he keeps coming back. At some point, he is going to wear down.

Likely his last contract, going to the better contender that needs his services. Betting on the Chip system to deliver a contender is shaky at best thus far.

I think its the same reason why he didnt want to re-up with the niners. The offense that York described us running this year sounds like a lot of zone read. Gore is not a zone read runningback. I think that started to settle in. The colts will most likely run him out of a traditional I-formation.

Good move if they platoon him so they can maximum his effectiveness at his age. Limit him to 15-16 carries a game.

Same reason Andre Johnson will prob. go to Indy.

More money, easy division, just as much a playoff/SBOWL contender as NE/GB/Sea (division plays into that as well), cheap state (NE/Sea are expensive places to live).

If I'm a FA there's really no reason I wouldn't choose Indy if Sea/GB/NE weren't my favorite team or something.

Gore is one of those guys that always falls forward when he gets tackled. That alone is an improvement over Richardson who plays way smaller than he actually is. Gore and Bradshaw is a decent combo in the backfield for Indy assuming Bradshaw comes back/can stay healthy.

Also gotta take into account state sales tax. I read on the MMQB this week, a player that chooses a Florida team actually pockets like 7% more then a player that plays on a California team....

Are you implying that the players are being sold? That's akin to slavery and something that Stephen A. Smith will note tolerate.

That would only apply to games played in Florida I believe. That's the way it works in the NBA anyway.

You are thinking income tax. Not sales tax. In states with no income taxes, players take home a lot more of their paycheck. Sometimes a sales tax actually offsets that to a certain degree but not always.

Yeah it works the same in the NFL as well. But playing your 8 home games in a state with an income tax as opposed to one without one is a tangible difference.
