Anyone know if the Sept. callups are complete? So far it seems we'll only get to watch the skill sets of Orr, Galvis, Martinez, and Wells for a month. It is said that Franco is not polished enough. The Phillies should dump the useless Wells or Orr and give this hot double A hitter a look.

Gelb of the Inquirer states "the Phillies didn't call up top prospect Maikel Franco because the team wants to look at Cody Asche at third base this month. GM Ruben Amaro did say that a Franco promotion was at least "discussed internally" among team officials."

What the hell were they discussing? What to leave Franco in AAA till he's dead. Dumbasses would not know how to effectively run a baseball club is you drew them a map.

What happened to franco playing 1B? Oh that's right we need to bat frandsen 3rd and see how he does. Afterall frandsen is very important to the phillies next year. Besides what if franco makes an error at 1B? It could cost us a game this september.

It's known that Asche can't play ss but the key to that problem next year, especially if JRol declines further, may be to work Cesar Hernandez into short. His play was excellent tonite at 2nd with the quick pivot and hard toss to first. Cesar hit .300 consistently in the minors and likely needs a lot of playing time this month. I'm hoping we see that. If he can hit, Hernandez would also solve the OF problem off the bench when needed until he's a regular.

So next year we could have Brown, Revere, and Ruf in the OF, an infield of Howard / Franco, Utley, Rollins / Hernandez, and Asche, with Ruiz / Rupp at c. Seems like there's plenty of multi-position talent there to cover all positions. Franco's future next year likely depends a lot on Howard / Utley's status. Plus what if Franco can hit LHP? This could happen, only IF......expectations are realized.

Maybe will get lucky over the winter and Howard and Utley will get runover by a bus. Make JRol a coach and problem solved. I can stomach Rupp/Ruiz if Rupp is the starter and Ruiz could be used however. Insert all the young talent from the farm and volia, the Phils may actually be a decent team under Sandberg next season.

Knowing the problems Howard has with LHP, if Franco were on the roster and could hit LHP well, then he could be platooned with Howard or replaced by him depending on the situation.

The suggested positions are feasible assuming hitting /fielding expectations of the new guys are realized.

Not sure JRol would want to stand up for more that a few minutes. Assuming Howard and Utley are careful crossing streets, we'll see a full serving of them next year but I think Sandberg will deal with their lack of production and/or injuries as they occur.

You might be right jvett. But I just know that Sandberg is irked by the money Howard is pulling down and his decling production and would love to slam-dunk this guy into oblivion. But noooooo. Brain-dead has locked up this dude for another freaking 4 years. Just insane!!!
