I watched a live stream of a guy in downtown Columbus last night. He showed people standing in the streets having a dialogue with police officers. People were shaking hands and and hugging the state police on the state house steps. The stream started around 9:00 PM. Around 9:30 the group, probably 8,000 strong marched north on High Street. Most protestors were happy and peaceful. He talked to an organizer who said that "all they needed to do was listen. All we want is for them to listen. We're making progress". People were holding hands and clapping and, I can't stress this enough, completely peaceful. Just marching. Curfew was 10:00. At around 10:20 they got to High Street and Lane avenue at campus about 3-4 miles north of where they started. The crowd just stopped there.

Then out of nowhere a line of SWAT cops came running up High street behind the crowd and pepper spraying people in the back. One said "I don't care" when local media held up creds and said they were media (specifically excluded from curfew) and then maced the reporter.

I grew up in Baltimore. And I am flabbergasted that I managed to find a place with a police force is worst than those jackbooted thugs.

Girl in red is holding up her press pass a moment before getting maced by the cop on the ground. Nice clear shot of his face. It wasn't so clear on video because the camera man's (in grey hoodie) recording suddenly went sideways and all you could here was the screaming of her when she took a full pepper spray blast from less than a foot away.

Guess the cop to the left is the reason for that loss of camera frame shot. The guy I was watching was standing right behind these people less than a minute before filming the police running through that intersection spraying. when that group of cops turned toward them he bolted left of shot down Lane avenue.

I'd nominate this one of black store owners calling for the police to help protect their store, only to immediately end up in handcuffs
