You should be able to have a conversation with members of a particular board if you want to. If not, this place is messed up. If topic and topic alone dictates where a thread goes, then the entire board would need rearranging.

Shaggy, I would turn it around and say that anybody from the politics forum that wants to respond to this thread is free to do so. Also, with all due respect, that board is a disaster that is rife with personal attacks and name-calling and although I can't speak for everybody here, I view this thread as a kind of sanctuary that doesn't have to worry about that kind of stuff.

So you think I should just have one forum - Sports - and have NHL, NFL, NBA, and so on just post threads within that Sports Forum. That's what it sounds like you are saying. There needs to be sections and threads needs to fit within that section(subject), or it will be a mess.

we have built a very good community here.
vast majority of us do not visit any other part of the board.

if you move a thread there, you effectively kill it from our perspective.

Not at all. I think the boards are fine and if a group that follows a certain sport or team have a thread that goes off into a different subject - who cares?

Whats the purpose of moving them? Only 'because that's where they should be' or is there another reason? Because that alone is not a good reason.

I mean, I'd much rather have a sub-forum created off the NHL General board than having threads moved to the Politics forum where very few people (if any) from here would go there to contribute.

we tend to keep it in two threads, for just that reason.

None of the regulars here are contributing typical "political BS". We do not engage in name calling, all of that happens when people from the regular political boards come in here to cause trouble.

We are a group of friends, brought together by hockey, most of us have been here for 10+ years who are discussing the world around us. The garbage arrives from outside and people lose their minds when we ignore their attempts to provoke us.

This board works as it is, we are a good community and I must respectfully ask that you do not interfere with what we have here. We do a pretty decent job of self policing. We don't want the board overrun ether. which is why we contain off topic discussions to their own single threads.
