I think hockey player would be a good cross over fighter. They are used to scrapping and a hockey training plan develops a combination of aerobic power, strength and muscle bulk, explosive speed and power as well as good anaerobic endurance.

80% of fighting on ice is having very good balance on skates.
That core strength should help Brashear, but he's WAY over his head if he's going strictly on brawn and instinct.

Here's an actual GOOD hockey fighter, who has 50-100 pounds on GSP, and he could get absolutely nothing going. Granted Brashear will probably get some other thug from the backwoods of PQ, but if he gets a well trained technical MMA fighter, he's toast.

He'll have the base there for what he needs, especially with core strength, but he's gotta be slippery too...which he's not. He's more of a lumbering type fighter.

Is Brashear trained in at least 1 form of martial arts? If not, he won't last a round. Those MMA guys have been training for years to perfect their forms and don't mess around.

Wonder if Herschel Walker could show him how other sport athletes do it.

I believe Herschel Walker had prior Martial arts training, but I could be wrong. My point is, unless Brashear already has or gets some sort of martial arts training, he's not going to have an easy time of it. The few professional boxers who have tried were dispatched of rather quickly.

I would take it a step further and suggest that Brashear would have a difficult time against a well-trained boxer.
Not generalizing for all hockey fighters, but what I have seen from Brashear over the years, I don't think he's even built for the sweet science.

Hockey fighting and MMA are about as similar as baseball and tennis.

Brash cleaned up his opponent in 21 seconds.

don't read anything into this... they had him set up to fight bags of loose meat from the start.
original opponent Martin Trempe (0-2), his injury replacement Steve Begin (0-1), and final injury replacement Matthieu Bergeron (his first MMA fight)
If and when he gets to someone with actual MMA training, I still think he gets eaten alive.

best vid I could find on short notice:

lmao...no respectable MMA fighter would throw a kick and a punch at the same time, while also lunging his head out and asking for his opponet to shatter his glass chin...all in a matter of two seconds.

This proves nothing

Agreed.

Also, your new avy made me chuckle. :)

lol, hopefully this one brings this series some luck. The Kraut Line just couldn't pull it off. They handled the first 3 series. Now for the Killer Whale Slayer.
