What makes me angry is when this team fails to get runners to score from third base and less than 2 outs, like in the 3rd inning. These guys should be trying to hit the ball to the outfield for a sac fly but it's always some grounder that gets caught by the pitcher or 3rd basemen and we never score......

Impatience and some of it has become mental now. The players have opportunities but they're not knocking them home.

It all has to do with the approach. Everybody is looking to swing at the very first fastball they get instead of working a good at bat they can get a ball to drive.

In my opinion, the two biggest culprits are Ian Kinsler and Elvis Andrus. Kinsler, it seems, tries to drive the ball for power every time and ends up popping out. I was hoping that mentality would go away when Hamilton left the team, but apparently Ian still wants to hit HRs as the lead-off batter. On the other extreme, Andrus simply takes the first two pitches and ends up in a 0-2 hole from the get-go. Then he's forced to swing at garbage pitches just to protect the plate.

Kinsler is definitely not one of the biggest culprits. He may not be hitting extremely well as of late, but there are others swinging the bat a lot worse than him...Murphy and AJ for example. Ian is hitting .354 with RISP and .423 with RISP and 2 outs.

AJ is hitting .176 with RISP and 2 outs. Unbelievable.

Its all about seeing more pitched IMO. These guys are swinging at the first pitch they see and it isn't working out. When a runner is on third base, a pitcher is gonna try to make you roll over, and he is gonna do this by throwing you pitches that are low and that are a change in speed. Our approach with runners on is bad, but even worse than that it is selfish. They are trying to line a base hit to get the runner home, when in reality they could just put the fucking ball in the outfield somewhere to get him home, whether its a hit or not. A bunch of selfish, low IQ ball players offensively is what I'm seeing. And because offense is contagious, good or bad, we are seeing even our good hitters sink down to a level they aren't used to hitting at.

You have no clue what you're talking about on Ian. He's hitting well over .300 with risp. Try again. Go look at stats once in a while.

Thanks. That's all I need to know about your baseball iq.

Why don't you chill the fuck out? Not everyone is or wants to be a stat nerd. There are plenty of ways to say something without being a prick.

I agree and it's been that way a long time. His approach seems more fitting as a 6 hole hitter to me. The best thing that could be said about Ian as lead off is he seldom chases bad pitches low and away

Kinsler is hitting .354 with RISP. That has nothing to do with being a "stat nerd", that's a fact, and if you don't like it then don't say anything.
None of you have justified how he is "one of the biggest culprits" for this team not being able to hit with RISP.

2011 he was 2nd in runs scored. 2012 he was 3rd in runs scored
obviously something was fitting

Translation: I have no response to being totally wrong according to the numbers.

Thanks for playing.

Kinsler is the least of our problems this season. Yes he's annoyed us in the past me included but he hasn't been the problem this season. Tho I heard a stat this morning from Norm where since he came back from his injury his BA is in the .240ish and is OBP is in the low low .300's and he's been caught on the bases 5 out of 8 times. Yikes that is not a good stretch.
