Washington Commanders vs. New York Giants

Date:
November 3 2024

Time: 1:00 pm

Location: MetLife Stadium East Rutherford New Jersey

Broadcast: FOX: with Chris Myers, Mark Sanchez, Kristina Pink, and the Washington Commanders Radio Network.

MATCHUP PREVIEW

The Washington Commanders head to MetLife Stadium to take on the New York Giants in a matchup that could have significant implications for both teams. The Commanders, boasting a solid 6-2 record, have been efficient on both sides of the ball. Offensively driven by Jayden Daniels’ dual-threat capabilities, despite his questionable status, Daniels’ contributions as both a passer and a runner have been pivotal to the sudden emergence of Washington as a real player on the NFL landscape. Brian Robinson Jr’s consistent ground game adds another layer to their offense. At 2-6, the Giants have struggled with consistency, and injuries to key defensive players like Adoree’ Jackson (questionable) and Dexter Lawrence II could further expose their vulnerabilities. Daniel Jones has been steady but will need more support from his offensive line and playmakers like Wan’Dale Robinson and Malik Nabers to compete effectively. Given the Commanders’ superior efficiency metrics and the Giants’ injury woes, Washington is well-positioned to capitalize on their advantages. The total points line is set at 43.5, and considering the offensive potential and defensive challenges for both teams, this game will likely surpass the projected total points.

Washington Commanders vs. New York Giants- November 3, 2024. As I see it!

On a brisk, 64-degree day in the Meadowlands, the mood of the New York faithful is noticeable as they solemnly file into the stadium and find their seats. This is not a very pleasant, upbeat gathering after watching their beloved Yankees fall in the World Series and the home-standing Giants coming into this one with a 2-6 overall record and no victories on their home field.

First Half:
1st Quarter;

The Commanders start strong with a 75-yard drive culminating in a 10-yard touchdown pass from Jayden Daniels to Terry McLaurin. The Giants respond with a field goal after a 60-yard drive but their offense struggles to find the end zone.
2nd Quarter;
Jayden Daniels continues to dominate, leading another touchdown drive capped by a 15-yard run by Brian Robinson Jr. The Giants, then manage to match that score with a 5-yard pass from Daniel Jones to Malik Nabers but miss the extra point. Commanders’ kicker Austin Seibert extends the lead with a 45-yard field goal, ending the first-half scoring with the Commanders in front 17-9.

Second half:
3rd Quarter;

The Commanders’ defense intercepts Daniel Jones leading to another touchdown, this time a 20-yard pass from Daniels to Noah Brown. The Giants struggle to gain momentum, and the Commanders add another field goal before the end of the quarter.
4th Quarter;
The Giants determined to make it a game, score another touchdown with a 30-yard pass from Jones to TE Theo Johnson, but the Commanders take control, driving down the field and sealing the victory with a 10-yard touchdown run by Austin Ekeler. The final score, Commanders 33, Giants 16.

Key Highlights:
Jayden Daniels throws for over 300 yards and two touchdowns, continuing to showcase his poise and talent.
Brian Robinson and Austin Ekeler combined for over 150 rushing yards, each rushing for a score and keeping the Giants on their toes.
The Commanders' defense records three sacks and two interceptions, stifling the Giants' offensive efforts.

Post Game;
The Commanders improve to 7-2, while the Giants fall to 2-7.
The Commanders’ balanced offense and solid defense prove too much for the Giants, securing a decisive victory and boosting their playoff hopes. Enjoy the game, everyone!

It may be my PTSD which is improving but I'll never take a win against Daniel Jones and the Giants for granted. I mean this is setting up to be a blowout but you never know when we play the Giants. But the defense is obviously much improved over the start of the season, I would hope they don't gut up with runs as they did in the first game and I think this time Washington finds the end zone.

31-28 Commanders.

Thx for the write up Stye. Excellent as always :suds:

I really am in awe of how DQ and JOe Dewitt have transformed our D with so many holes. ‘Players over Plays’ has made a wild difference in production

I will reluctantly pick us over the giants 24 to 23 on a walk off FG miss by the giants .

They always play us tough no matter what kind of team they field .

We should beat the giants and that is the rub .

I believe that country will call for BSJ to be benched right after kick off
Player of the game will be Brandon Coleman
JD5 will pass for 195 yds and a TD and will win rookie of the week sending bears fans into outrage
Nabors will have 16 catches for 212 yds and 2 tds

I'd like to think it took this long for the players to learn a new scheme. Because all offseason I heard a promise of an attacking downhill defense and we saw they pretty much got steamrolled in September.

As well as it took this long for the coaches to figure out their players strengths and weaknesses, apply players where it makes sense and deploying schemes to hide their weaknesses.

Perhaps if they played a bit in preseason this could have been a shorter adjustment? Coaches coach scared in the preseason today and that's no way to prepare a team. We saw horrible tackling in the first few weeks of the season all over the league.

2. Final score? 30-21

3. Player(s) of the game? LUVU

4. Memorial moment, event, or play, that will have everyone talking on Monday morning? LUVU PICK 6 OF JONES ALONG WITH HIS 2 SACKS, 6 TACKLES, 1 PASS DEFLECTED AND A FORCED FUMBLE.
Thank you Sir, as always!

This is not the same team (WASH) we saw open the season. We have a chance to get that 7th win and all but end the Giants season at mid-season. This team believes in itself, and a bad Giants team will not derail them this week. Too many leaders on the team to let that happen, coaching is also tops in the league and the momentum they are building is palpable. This could possibly be a statement game in a sense that the league is put on notice as the Commanders dispatch teams they should beat handily which is a sign of a very good football team.

I know most of you as I have in the past, feel the Giants always have our number and in years past, our team would find a way to lose this game. This is NOT that team and the preparation and hard work this coaching staff puts in with its players each and every week will be on full display this Sunday. I know some of you still don't believe 100% that this team has turned a corner. I'm not saying they will win a Superbowl this year, what I'm saying is the turnaround is not superficial or a case of playing only bad teams to start the first half. This is real and ALL have bought in thanks to DQ.

It also shows how bad RR & Co were and the league passed him by long ago. I am thankful we no longer have to witness incompetence on the football field. There are 30+ new players on this team just this year which makes this turnaround so incredible and that alone rarely gets mentioned.

I appreciate this and thank you!
It is an unfortunate reality in life that there are people who cannot separate how they feel from what they see, so from that perspective it's not surprising to see reluctance of some to know that this is a real change organizationally and on the field. Fanaticism allows for hope, even when all evidence suggests otherwise in sports, so in a way it wasn’t just Snyder or the team, it was blind loyalty adding to so much disappointment and ultimately distrust in the current success.

For me it remains week to week league and health and match ups matter

Add division game and Any Given Sunday x 100

I would have thought so, but honestly, I’m in no position, nor do the coaches deserve, to be second guessed as yet.

Question... because of the reluctance to play, starters in the preseason, and a shortened number of games during that time, how should we look at the first or second regular season games? Are they in effect, extensions of the preseason?

IMO Many savvy football minds, already look at Sept as the preseason currently, and not a reliable measure for the entire season.

If coaches aren’t playing starters in preseason anyway , then 1st 2 games could be considered like preseason games . The problem is not winning one or both could come back to bite you
