I'm all for a good QB transfer this year. I'd like to see Leal step up after all his time put into/from the program, but he'd still be an asset to the team if someone else earned the starting role. Whatever pieces are needed to reinvent this offense!

bet Leal would be pissed if this happens....

also, how many INT's would Wittek have to throw before people started calling for Leal?

Considering the meltdown of some fans after ECU 2011, Pitt 2012, and Alabama 2013, the number is one.

I'm lukewarm on it. If there was a Wilson level transfer out there, hell yeah I'd be down for it but that ain't happening. I'd honestly rather just put Ford out there and let him learn on the job.

From Andy Bitter: "One other tidbit from my Leal conversation for now: he said receiver E.L. Smiling isn't returning next year, even though he had a year of eligibility left."

Yep, Should be interesting. I like bringing Brewer in. Competition makes all of them better.

The only thing remotely concerning would be burning some bridges in Del Ray if Leal doesn't get the nod. But they can't play that game and I'm glad they aren't. May the best man win.

I just read TKP's review of Brewer. Sounds like his negatives are his throwing motion (some sort of side-armed, shot-put motion) and indecisiveness when under pressure. I was thinking Leal also has a side-armed motion though.

I'm glad he's not done. I'm not so glad to hear he's working at DT again. I'm not there at practice, but I would have thought he'd have a leg up to start at Stud DE vs. being a likely backup at DT.

Charlie Brown is lining up for a other field goal it seems.

Anyway, I think Smiling graduated and is done with football but I am not sure where I saw that. I think twitter but it was like a week ago.

I saw that as well in the last few days. Might have been in a Bitter article.

I think it's 100% a depth thing for spring. Baron is out with a shoulder injury so we have just two DT's for spring practice.. Meanwhile at DE there's a group of really young guys that need reps to get ready to play this fall. Guys like Ekanem, Dooley, Mihota and even Nicolas need reps at DE more than Marshall does, from strictly a developmental perspective.

This fall I would expect Marshall to move back over to DE, once there are 3 more DT's (Baron & the freshmen) available.
