Here we go again. Another hard-throwing Marlins pitcher has been sidelined by elbow trouble. The team is hopeful that reliever Carter Capps can avoid surgery that ended Jose Fernandez's season. Capps, whose fastball frequently registers triple digits, was placed on the disabled list Tuesday with an elbow sprain. Although that sounds ominously similar to the initial reports on Fernandez before it was determined he needed Tommy John, manager Mike Redmond said the hope is that extended rest will cure the tenderness Capps experienced after his outing Sunday at Marlins Park. Following a MRI on Monday it was determined that Capps will not throw for four weeks to give the injury a chance to heal. "He'll be down for an extended period of time and start building back up, and see where we're at," said Redmond.

His injury was brought up on another thread, but I didn't want to change the direction of that thread. He is barely removed from our system so wow! But this goes to back to my theory. Add veterans and trade young pitching before they blow their arms out. Even if it was only Morrison in return, it is still better than another TJ arm.
