I think it could be a possibility. You also have to remember that Betts is going to be on the LTIR through November. So until then, there will be a roster spot open. More time to evaluate the situation.

I could see something like:

Giroux - Carter - Zherdev
Guerin - Richards - JvR
Carcillo - Powe - Lappy
Shelley
IR: Betts

to start the season. Of course, this could be wishful thinking. I highly doubt Mr. 1.1 will be starting the season in the press box.
