only slightly different scenarios :L

He came from a similar background maybe not quite as destitute as Oher's. He received an invitation to the annual U.S. Army All-American Combine in January 2009, but initially could not afford the travel costs to San Antonio, Texas. With help from special-education students, Floyd baked brownies and sold them at school for weeks to raise the money. Also the Lahn's are from Pennsylvania...Floyd's sometimes tumultuous upbringing included being raised in part by his great grandmother, moving several times in high school and not knowing his father, who died when Floyd was young. By his own accounts, he lived in a neighborhood project where selling drugs was common.

Oher was also a high-schooler...A football player wasn't adopted by a booster in Oher's case.

Actually he is a rather influential
Sean Tuohy
Local entrepreneur; Connection: Former Ole Miss athlete and active booster
Sean Tuohy is an Ole Miss staple having been a star basketball player in the early 80s followed by stints as an Ole Miss commentator as well as his famous adoption of Ole Miss lineman Michael Oher. The majority of Tuohy’s adult life has been dedicated to developing a successful fast food restaurant empire which had revenues of $68 million in 2006.
There is no doubt that Tuohy is an outstanding leader, manager, and businessman who knows how to grow success. Tuohy has no athletic administration experience, and his sports experience has come solely from playing and commentating. Tuohy was the first candidate to publicly state a desire to be Ole Miss’s AD, and in that first article, he did not mince words stating that Ole Miss can do much better. Tuohy advocates a changed culture at Ole Miss with a complete abolition of elitism. Tuohy can make a business thrive, but his lack of athletic administration is a weak spot which makes it uncertain if his entrepreneurial skills would translate to success as Ole Miss’s AD. Most successful ADs have over ten years of athletic administration experience
Tuohy was a strong advocate for his friend Hugh Freeze, and Michael Oher is a strong advocate for Tuohy as AD. Many are concerned, however, with Tuohy’s vast connections to the existing sports world at Ole Miss. If Tuohy is hired, Ole Miss will have hired Michael Oher's high school football coach and father at two of the top three most important positions at Ole Miss.
Pros: Extremely successful at managing business; has managed budgets larger than Ole Miss’s athletic budget; diverse sports contacts; long-time Ole Miss connections; strong desire to change culture and eliminate elitism; Michigan hired Domino’s CEO David Brandon as AD booster:

kt my point wasn't that Oher wasn't adopted by a booster. My point was Oher wasn't a football player, he was a homeless high school student
