My thought on this is he's a moron who made all this fuss about coming back after so long to hang it up after 2 games shows he's either a self centered attention whore who wanted the spotlight again or he didn't take the training and dedication aspect of it seriously enough.

Just to play New Jersey Devils' advocate here, it's possible that the team went to him behind closed doors and told him it was clear he wasn't hacking it on the team and gave him the option to be released, traded, or retire.

While some guys just retire on their own, I think the majority are pushed or forced into it by others.

honestly, i cant see the above scenario being remotely close to what happened. All parties involved are guilty of wishful thinking. I think the whole team wanted him to help them succeed and he might have been the young players last hope. Cant help but think the bed shitting from the team last night was because his announcement emotionally drained them and they now realize they are going nowhere on a team that wont spend any money to help them win.

i dont really see floppa as a self centred ego guy either. I think he's a guy who has continuously shown that he cant let go of his passion and is chronically guilty of wishful thinking about his level of health and his ability to perform at the level he once did. I dont think Hopefully he has just finally let go and he can stop being a punchline for us hockey fans
