I was all set to use Joique Bell as my flex this week, then I started thinking...
Half point PPR- should I use B Cooks instead?

I've always liked using those unknown quantities in week one. While it's true that we really have no idea what to expect from those guys, it's also true that neither do defensive coordinators. .albeit not on the same scale of course.
I guess what I'm saying is that on a complete shot in the dark gamble I would be willing to play Cooks.

I would go with Bell. The Lions shouldn't have any issues with the Giants. The safe bet is Bell. What does your opponent look like this week. Do you need someone who you know can produce a decent score like Bell. Or do you have some wiggle room that you can withstand a possible stinker out of Cooks in week 1.

I don't trust anybody on the Saints offense not named Jimmy Graham or Drew Brees.

Interesting, I always do the opposite. I don't want to risk a guy that barely plays or does almost nothing, so I'll play the safe pick until the other guy does it at least once...To me you need to play Bell. Now if Cooks goes off, you do miss the points, but you know what to do for the next 16 weeks so you are still happy.

It's been hit or miss admittedly, but when it's a hit, sure does help, and sometimes even the misses aren't a big deal depending on what the "safe" choice did. It's a gamble, no doubt

Actually, I think the half ppr makes the decision for Bell easier. Both teams are going to throw plenty, but Bell will get more touches between handoffs and passes. Cooks may very well hit a big one, but I just don't see that he will get nearly as many opportunities as Bell. Just my 2 cents. ...

Gotta stick with the theme here and go with Bell as well. Cooks might have a long catch, but I don't see him having more than 4 catches for 80 yards and possibly a touchdown at the most. Bell will probably catch 7 or 8 passes for 60 yards and either a touchdown rushing or receiving and that's not counting the rushing yards, so I think he's the better play.

Don't over think this one Fuzz!

Hopefully, Cooks makes your decision difficult for week 2, but I think it is too risky to start him in week 1 given your other option.

Yes I can see that I was over thinking this one a bit. J Bell in and Cooks on my bench ready to impress me for the future. Glad to have the option. Hey Stafford- throw it to Bell!!!
