What makes it worse was Carolina had 6 power plays and the Islanders had zero. Zero. I pretty much never complain about refs in any sport and I won’t now. Carolina won fair and square of course and one play doesn’t decide a game. I’ll just say you can watch the high stick that Mayfield complained about and make up your own mind. Not only did it seem like a call (maybe I’m biased) but it also kind of took him out of the play where the winning goal was scored, so a double whammy and that was why it hurts. They didn’t miss any high sticks the other way including two doubles and one that was called by the linesman after he stopped play. But those were worse I guess because blood was drawn. Tough one but that’s playoff hockey.

what I will comment about are the whiny Carolina fans chanting “refs you suck”. I get the home crowd and trendy chants nowadays, but still…

I hadn’t seen that angle Before. I knew the linesman was right there but in that clip you can see that the ref was right back there and seemingly looking right at it too. i thought he was on the other side and assumed that was why he didn’t see it.
