As far as little guns go the Shield is a nice choice. I've always been partial to a 4" barrel but the Shield, LC9S, and Glock 43 are nice shooters. Handle almost as well as a compact.

$519.

Performance Center.
Fiber Optic Sights, Ported Barrel, Enhanced Trigger.

Whoop Whoop.

The trigger is nicer than the ported barrel.
I emailed S&W asking if I could just buy the ported slide and barrel to put on the Shield I already have, they said "nope, gotta buy the whole thing." Bastards.

I forget who makes barrels for the MP series with Apex... Barsto? They might have an aftermarket that fits the bill. I've never cared for ported barrels in a self defense weapon myself though.

Yeah, the I imagine the gasses and flash from the ports isn't exactly something you'd want expelling onto you if you had to fire with it close to your body.

I use a Glock 26(gen 3) for cc. Love my baby glock.

Those are nice. For me, it came down the the 26, Springfield XDS 9mm and the Shield. After fondling each of them on a few different occasions, the Shield just felt much more comfortable to me in the end. I doubt I coulda went wrong either way but this thing has been nothing but awesome.

The Shield is nice, I just prefer a double stacked magazine. The S&W are nice though, I have the M&P 40 and it shoots like most 9mm in my opinion. It's a lot less snappy than most 40's i've tried.
