This is something Florida may be interested in doing. Get a former 1st-overall pick, and if he keeps his head on straight, he can be very dangerous. But, he's a big risk of headed back to Russia, like you said. Edmonton is desperate for D, which is why they may bite on this.

was actually hoping we could work out a deal with the oilers. a few of our D prospects (pelech, mayfield or pulock) + our 2nd pick from montreal we got for vanek for their 3rd overall pick? while giving our 5th overall to buffalo...we get a shot at ekblad whilst hopefully not giving off the impression to the rest of the NHL next season yet still having that small chance of taking mcdavid or eichel if we do tank

Probably looking to trade down and pick up another first for next year which is a stronger draft.
