Who?NO its not. just admit you and the others would take Lamp over the top 3 dlineman in this draft.
No speculation its true. they are better players.
Sure it has. lol. Now that we have TM are pass rushing needs are solved. lol. Just admit it Dr. Doom you would take Lamp over Garrett in this draft.
I asked an easy question Dean.... How much do you think our defense would have improved if we had taken Williams?
As far as better players is concerned, how many times have we seen "Better Players" go to new teams and completely flame out?? You speculate that they are better players, but you have no idea how any of these players would have don on this team. Where as I know for a fact Scherff has been one of the better offensive lineman... for OUR team.
Of course Scherff is are best interior o lineamn b/c he has shit to compare to. Williams would have improved the run defense and helped out with the pass rush. that is why he is a top talented player in the 2015 draft. Oh please are you really going to argue Jackson and Johnson with me?
Just admit you would take Lamp over the top 3 dlineman in this draft. that is what SM did two years ago. Its the same situation this year.
McCloughan is considered by his peers as one of the best talent evaluators in the NFL.Pierre Garçon: Washington players “loved” Scot McCloughan
PG , on the record , says he never witnessed SM drunk or appearing drunk
So had we taken Williams, and had both a shitty offense and Defense, it would have been some how preferable because we took Williams?? Because lets be clear here, Starting Moses and Long likely leads to who ever played QB being killed by week 4 of the 2015 season.
Scherff was not the sexy pick alot of the fan base wanted, but he was the better pick from both a football and a needs standpoint.
he has built 2 super bowl teams allen 0Scott is so great he is looking for his 4th NFL job ..... something is not right with SM
I don't know but I do remember dean jizzing all over his keyboard talking about what the hell he was going to do with that 2nd overall and how we should do it and now he claims t be a KC nut hugger
Dean has to be the most 20/20 hindsight after the fact guy on the planet .
You are right, I would take whats better for the team ON the field than what looks better on draft day. So if Lamp was the difference between our Offense being average, and being top ten, and Garrett was the diference between our defense being 28th and 23rd... I would take the player who is going to have the bigger impact for the TEAM.
Substance over sexy Dean.
You of course are the type of guy who would do something like this...

I am defending the pick a as a good pick. You even said so yourself. I have never said anything more. And as far as defending dean, while quite honorable, its so late in the history of this thing that I won't even try and address it. Dean has been anti Scherff since day 1. Why don't you do your own homework and show where he was in fact not? Because I certainly don't feel compelled to do it for you.
BTW, as I have already stated, I was not happy with the pick at the time and would have preferred Williams. But again, that's not the point. As for whether Gruden is happy or not, I have no idea and have never commented one way or another. I have also never said it was a group decision. Why don't you read what I actually said and you might understand my argument. You may not agree, which is fine, but at least you won't apply positions to me I have never taken.
Well, apparently I and a slew of others who have posted on this thread disagree with you about Dean. He begrudgingly now admits he is a good player, but that wasn't the tune he was singing 2 years ago.You claimed Dean has called Scherff a bust. I never saw that and he denies ever saying it. That's why I asked you to provide evidence which you are unwilling or unable to provide. So there's that
Dean's position has always been identical to mine. It was never a knock on Brendan Scherff, he has been a terrific player as was predicted. It had everything to do with passing on Willaims to fill a need that should not require the 5th overall pick. He is a damned good hot dog that cost $15 and also cost a good and possibly dominant player at another position of need.
No speculation its true. they are better players.

As socal posted above, dean is all about wanting validation and proving he is right. That is all he cares about. It just gets old. There is no way one can offer, as a fact, how Williams would have done here. But we don know, as a fact, that Schreff has done very well. So why continue to harp on it and say it is a fact that Williams was a better pick. No one could possibly know.
I understand folks are done with this Scherff/Wiliams debate. But it is an interesting topic that won't go away, and that goes for both sides.
I'll close by pointing out that just as you may be tired of Dean always wanting validation your continued reference to this as you constant start it up with him is also getting old. I must have missed all the posters who agreed with you that he called Scherff a bust.
Message boards are for sharing opinions and I don't see anything wrong with Dean going back to the debate and furthering his argument. How is that any different than Dad starting a thread when Scherff was selected to the Pro Bowl and bragging that this somehow proved that he was right, Scherff was the right pick? Again the argument had nothing to do with Scherff's play at guard, I think that is pretty clear by now.
We didnt make a mistake taking Scherff, a.
