Ryan Clady out for "a few weeks".

Granted, they've had plenty of other bumps and have responded well. But losing your all-pro left tackle could hurt. Foot sprains are tricky to predict recovery times as well. See Te'o, Manti.

Ryan Clady of Denver Broncos will miss at least a few weeks with foot sprain, sources say - ESPN

According to wiki, a few weeks sounds optimistic if the diagnosis reported is true.

Lisfranc injury - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

That bolded text seems to clearly contradict your thread title, but you are right that both Miller and Bailey having yet to play are "bumps" that Denver has already overcome.

Losing a first team All-Pro LT is definitely another bump. Now we'll see if PMFM and the Broncos are up to this newest challenge.

By the way, I didn't look at the wiki piece that you linked, but it's got "Lisfranc fracture" in it. The description of Clady's injury that I've read is a "Lisfranc sprain". I don't really know anything about it, but it seems to me that the distinction might be significant, even to a Chargers fan trying to hang his hopes on Clady's injury.

Read your boy Mike Klis. He's talking about it being season ending. This is the general board and that's a big injury. Try not to get upset because I happen to be a Charger fan. Pretty big blow for a Super Bowl favorite. Excuse me for discussing it on an NFL board.

And Bailey's injury is a blessing for your team. Dude is another legend that doesn't know when to hang it up. DRC is much better right now.

Outside of Manning, Clady is the player they can least afford to lose for any extended period of time. Bigger loss than Miller IMO.

If mike Klis is your source then that right there says enough about you. He is the worst at just wanting to get hits on his stories not caring whether it is true or not. The real story right now is they are trying to decide how soon he can come back of whether to stick him on the designated to return or just have him on the inactive list for a few weeks

I would be very surprised if he isn't put on IR with designation to return. Lisfranc sprains are obviously no joke. Tough break. Hopefully he's back by week 11.

You seem to misunderstand my post, so let me try to clear that up. First, the title of your thread states that Clady's injury is the Broncos' "first bump in the road", yet you then acknowledge that it really isn't that. Surely you can see that that doesn't make any sense.

Second, although I don't know much about the subject, I do know that a "sprain" is typically less severe than a "fracture". Since the wiki link that you posted appears to describe a fracture, though published reports that I've seen suggest that Clady suffered a sprain, it seems to me that you are trying to exaggerate the severity of Clady's injury. Does that not make sense? Regardless, the fact of the matter seems to be that the severity has yet to be determined, though I understand that you hope for the worst (best) for Denver (SD).

Third, when I wrote that Champ having not played yet this year is already a "bump in the road" that Denver has dealt with, that really didn't have anything to do with how well DRC has played so far. Even before Champ was injured, DRC was already slated to start at one CB, with Champ on the other side and Chris Harris as the nickel corner. In Champ's absence Harris has started opposite DRC with Tony Carter getting most snaps at the nickel. So your comparison of Champ to DRC does not support your claim that Champ's injury has been a "blessing" for Denver. Surely you can understand that Denver's secondary is deeper with Champ than it is without him.

Finally, I'm not upset that you posted this topic. Rather, I simply pointed out a few flaws in your post. I understand that Clady's injury gives you greater hope for your Chargers. I am not convinced that that will in fact hand the division over to SD, but I find it amusing if that is what you infer. In any event, we shall see how the injury affects the Broncos (Chargers).

Sprain and Fracture can at times in this situation be very similar. A player can have it Sprained but also fracture at the same time. There are 5 tiny bones in that spot but from the sound of it there must not be as much damage as there definitely could be. If it was fractured bad they would not be talking about him returning this year in fact they would be thinking beginning of next year would be in jeapordy if that was the case. So from the reports it sounds like it is on the milder side which means more like 6-8 weeks of healing. My guess is at this time they put him on the Designated to Return list and the earliest he can come back then is week 11.

Now about Champ being a blessing being out so far? Ummm what have you been smoking? He had the one bad game in the playoffs but otherwise gave up 1 touchdown all year before that. Throw in he was actually supposed to have safety coverage over the top helping out on his one touchdown he gave up in the playoffs. Champ is still a great corner. Yes he might not be the best corner on the Broncos this year but that is more showing how good DRC is than how bad Champ has gotten.

If you'd like to split hairs, then I'll say the "first bump in the road since the season started". I also acknowledged in my first post that the Broncos had done a good job overcoming it so far. But don't act like Miller's absence hasn't affected them at all. They have given up 25 points a game, they just have plenty to spare with great play from Manning.

Losing Clady is huge. Denver should still be the favorite in the AFC West, possibly even the AFC which looks pretty weak so far. Time will tell, but you can't lose an all pro left tackle and assume nothing changes.

Does not matter as long as 18 is back there. He gets the ball out so quick and hardly gets sacked. They will be fine. He will just have to get it out quicker, which means more Wes and short passing game with Moreno.

Take it from me (and Darren McFadden), a lisfranc sprain would be a sprain of the worst possible kind, lots of room for interpretation, and for a big man I would tread very carefully. However, I am sure there will be another warm body to take his place and PM will be just fine.

Champ may not be the best CB in the NFL, but he is certainly in the top 10, I would agree that the Bronchos are better with him out there, he could play for my team anytime.
