How the hell would Crocker have helped at all yesterday? We had zero pass rush. My 90 year old grandmother could have thrown passes back there with the amount of time given to Cutler. Honestly, I thought Still and Thompson had better game than Atkins.

Bears defensive grades by position group:

Linemen:+1.0
quarterback: +6.1
tight ends: -5.3 (Bennett was horrible)
receivers : +3.4
backs : -3.7

How good was Cutler? Peyton Manning's record setting game only graded at +4.7.....

We don't need Crocker. We need to get after the damn QB. The strength of this team is the defensive line. They struggled yesterday, and we gave up plays as a result. Geno should have a monster game this week with Pouncey hurt.

Bears defensive grades by position group:

1)Linemen: -5.0
2)Linebackers: +2.8
3)Corners: +0.7 (Of note is Charles Tillman even with two picks had an overall grade of -0.1)
4)Safeties: -2.2

The Bengals oline obviously did well vs the Bears dline, and Andy Dalton had a solid game. So why didn't the Bengals win? Turnovers, penalties, and Jay Cutler imho.

Bengals' total offensive grade +7.9
Bears' total defensive grade -3.7

Bears' total offensive grade +1.5
Bengals' total defensive grade +4.9

Bears' special teams grade +3.7
Bengals' special teams grade +1.8

Conclusion: The Bengals are not as good as the sum of their individual performances, while the Bears are better than the sum of theirs. Coaching, maybe?

Wait? I thought it was always the offensive line's fault when Andy struggles? Aren't are receivers great?

I'm sure Marv is going to love these stats.

To me, I could easily see that we have a lot of talent and we should be good. We're also undisciplined, make stupid decisions and are completely handicapped by horrendous in-game coaching.

#2 receiver is obviously still a problem, though I'm willing to wait and see on Sanu, who graded poorly yesterday and had the most damaging turnover of the day. He has flashed ability before, so let's give him a chance. Frankly I don't think much of Jones, who may only have a roster spot because of his first and middle names. Green-Ellis graded poorly all last season, and didn't do much yesterday either. Maybe as the season goes on they'll start giving Bernard more chances.

These PFF numbers totally frustrate me, because I can now see mathematically we should be one of the best teams in the league. Instead we flounder in Marvin's mediocre world.

Marvin Jones is a bum.

I'm generally okay with our limited approach in FA with the exception of 2nd receiver. We've needed one for the last two seasons and we haven't addressed it. Anyone think the Bears regret sending two third round picks to the Dolphins for Marshall?

Marvin and Dalton. Dalton graded well, but that number could be much better. I doubt they grade for the throws that he should attempt and should be able to complete. Rarely with our offense do you see quick scores. Up and down the field and done. It seems it has to be methodical with Dalton's limitations. The more plays you have to run to get down the field, the more opportunity for mistakes and for the defense to make big plays. That's difficult to manage in the NFL.

We've outright neglected the 2nd receiver position the last 2 seasons. There's no excuse for it.

Completely agreed. I was an advocate for a veteran receiver as the two before last season, and before 2011. Instead we got Armon Binns and Marvin Lewis Jones.

You know what else it highlights...when you can't get out of your own damn way, you won't win games. Stupid fouls and costly turnovers...

As much credit as I give to the Bears and Cutler, the Bengals simply handed this game to them. Bad management, and poor decisions cost them this game. Period.
