Lol you can't just use 1 game to determine how teams play. Especially a hypothetical.

Marquette doubled down on beating Providence. Zona lost to them. And both these actually happened.

Sometimes you match up with a certain team. Sometimes you have a good or a bad day. Cal has just been so hit or miss and Indiana has that 3 pt potential.
Yeah that's definitely true. I guess both the teams in question are terrible on the road and can beat anyone at home so they are pretty similar.

I actually like indianas chances better of making a S16 but Cals better of making a FF if that makes sense. Shooting like IU can can't really maintain over 4 or 5 games vs good teams but it can over 1 or 2. Cal could lose first round but they're talented enough to go deep. Just so young

This is a very wide open year, any team can win the tournament this year, going to be an interesting month.

In no way, shape or form is WVU a free throw to make the final 4. While the press can cause fits, it also leaves open 3's left and right. I can see us playing a Missouri Valley Conference team in the first game and losing by 30 because they hit 25 3's. Offense hasn't been great for us this year ether.

I put WVU's chances as a 3pointer at best. Prolly more realistic is a half courter

Texas handled the press pretty well the other night. Caused a few probs right at the beginning, but not for long.
I can see where it will cause some teams a big problem.

I believe this might be the most wide open March Madness is many years.

Yep which us why coaching will be even more important and why teams like Kansas, Duke, MSU, UNC, Kentucky, Arizona may have even a better shot this year than people think. When the on court skill is pretty even coaching will be huge

True but it also means a Cinderella could go far into the tournament.

So who's going to be the next Virginia Commonwealth?

that's an interesting point, who is going to be THE Cinderella this year?

is it a pool of about 20 teams? Good luck prognosticating the one...some expert here in CBB prognostication should do a thread/study on who this could be. Would be interesting reading.

The 2 teams I love this year are Monmouth and Valpo. I also think Akron could do some damage.

I've done it the last 2 years. Picked Mercer to beat Duke 2 years ago and Belmont to beat UVA last year. If not for blowing a double digit second half lead Belmont would have made me 2 for 2. Can't really pick Cinderella til you see the matchups

I think by Cinderella they are talking a VCU type not a win 1 game lol.

A team capable of pulling off a big run

Lol. Oh. Well that's not too likely even in a year like this. I'd probably say Dayton or Wichita in that scenario as far as it pertains to non majors or Valpo if you're talking a lower 12/13/14 type seed. Easy answer is Monmouth but they're not sneaking up on anyone

Hell rmilia, those you listed have more "on court skill" than most teams so coaching doesn't have to be as good.

But, I agree with you for a different reason. We all think things are so wide open, watch the final four be typical blue bloods like you've listed.

Yeah I was saying it in the Big10 thread talking with rmilia that I felt since I've watched BE basketball heavily(when Marquette joined) this is one of Novas weakest tourney teams I've seen(talking strictly ones that made the tourney(. And they happen to be #1 in the country lol.

What do you think? I'm probably forgeting some years

Definitely weaker than last year. Weaker than the 2009 and 2010 teams and weaker than 2005 and 2006 with Kyle Lowry.

2014 is a close call.

yes, that's a key point. It's about the matchups.

I can see where it will cause some teams a big problem.

You guys handled it well and ya hit so many open shots.( credit goes to UT)

That is exactly what I'm worried about going into the dance.
