Really like Hiestand as the O-line hire.

Harry Hiestand returning to coach Bears offensive line

He was our O-line coach in the mid-00's, which was (BTW) the last time we had consistent O-line play.

Hiestand was hired on January 11, 2005 as Chicago’s offensive line coach. The Bears were one of six teams to have the same five offensive linemen start all 16 games in 2008 (C Olin Kreutz, LG Josh Beekman, RG Roberto Garza, LT John St. Clair and RT John Tait), marking the first time since 2001 that Chicago had the same five players start all 16 contests along the line.

The offensive line would become the most experienced unit on the Bears roster over the next couple of years, led by 11-year veteran and six-time Pro Bowl C Olin Kreutz, who entered the 2009 season having started a team-high 102 consecutive games.

In 2008, Chicago’s offense attempted 557 pass plays and absorbed 29 sacks. In 2006, the Bears attempted 539 pass plays and allowed just 25 sacks, the lowest total given up by the team since allowing 17 in 2001, as Chicago went on to win the 2006 NFC Championship leading to the organization’s first Super Bowl appearance in 21 years.

Now, as for OC... I have a lot of interest in Darren Bevell.

Seahawks DVOA on Offense during Bevell tenure:

2011 22nd
2012 4th
2013 7th
2014 5th
2015 1st
2016 16th
2017 14th

Even his two down years with Wilson, they were still in the top half of the league. I have a hard time pinning the blame on him either. That offensive line is a complete and utter train-wreck.

He was also the OC for Favre's Vikings in 09 and 10. This is a guy who has been a part of a lot of success in the NFL, a lot of great QB's (QB coach for Favre/Rodgers in GB), developed Wilson within his offense and was once a coveted HC'ing candidate. With Nagy calling the plays, I would take him as OC any day. However, I think he winds-up somewhere that will give him play-calling responsibility.

You want the guy who called a pass play over a sure thing td scamper to win a super bowl? I’ll pass. A lot of seahawk fans have been calling for Bevell to be fired for years. If I remember right the seahawk fans were pretty divided on his performance, ala the grossman. I’m not a huge fan of Bevell. I don’t know who the candidates are, but we can do better than Bevell.

This OLine coach I don’t know much about. All of the coaches are important, if we get a good OC, DC, and trust our HC, the rest of the coaching staff will fill itself out with quality coaches.

He's renowned by many as the best living offensive line coach. He was our O-line coach in the mid-00's. Kruetz and them love him. He has been the O-line coach for Notre Dame, and has widely been widely accepted as the best in the country.

Of course you'd say something this stupid.

First of all, you can CALL a touchdown? Huh? Wow! That's a play!? Holy shit! Why don't we call a touchdown every play!? Moron...

Second of all, Lynch is not a great short yardage back and had especially not been during that season. The play-call was questionable, but quite fine. Especially given the circumstances with the time left... etc... Trying a pass in that situation is more than common, and teams do it all of the time.

However, of course, you're gullible enough to look over the development of a a perennial pro bowl, SB winning QB... because of one interception. The fact that his offense posted 43 on Denver in the SB prior. A guy who was Favre's OC in Minnesota. Rodgers QB coach in GB, and molded Russell from a 3rd round rookie QB into a superstar.

I guess by your logic, Bill Buckner was a shitty first baseman. I guess Mariano was a shitty closer, because of his part in blowing a save in the Boston Red Sox 3-0 comeback. You fucking twat.

If I remember right the seahawk fans were pretty divided on his performance

Oh meeeee goshies!? Fans didn't like their team's offensive play-calling!? I am stunned!

There are 32 teams in the NFL, and if you haven't noticed... there are, at any given time, between 25-30 of those fan-bases who are critical of their OC's play-calling.

Fans want a scapegoat, and assistants are the easiest target. They'd rather not blame key players, and with a beloved coach like Carroll. You don't want to blame him. What's the only logical step left?

Bevell's track-record with QB's speaks for itself. He's considered one of the brightest offensive minds in the game, which is why he's been a HC candidate for years.

This would not be his offense... he would not be calling the plays... He would be helping the development of Mitchell Trubisky.

No other candidate out there has seen the success in this league that Bevell has.

Shove a hand-grenade in your ass, and pull the pin.

How come every time I reply to one of your posts, your response is always being a huge douche bag? Then later on you go on to find your wrong? I’m done putting much effort into talking bears with you. You make shit up. You berate everyone who disagrees with you, then never take ownership when you find out your wrong (which is damn near every time). It used to be funny, but now it’s kind of sad.

Your opinion would hold weight if you were ever right. I’m worried about the bears now because you think they’ll be good and you’re always wrong.
