Anyone play and have advice on the best way to level your youth players one you've promoted them?

I used to always cycle them as strikers.

I can't seem to find any pattern in how they gain attributes. My CB's gain shit like shot power and my ST's are gaining marking. Except for giving them playing time in general, I don't see how the game decides. I was hoping to learn a more efficient way.

Well put them in at midfielder or striker regardless of position you eventually want them to play and make a point to be passing to them a lot and having them on the ball making moves, passing, defending etc.
