I guess seeing I am not a Yankee fan I was not aware that everywhere Mariano goes he is getting accolades from the visiting clubs home field.

I saw tonight's at Fenway and I thought it was very well done and a great amount of respect shown from the arch rival Red Sox fans.

Rivera is really a class act and I will never forget when he returned to Fenway after the Sox won the world series and Sox fans gave him a standing ovation cause he gave up the save and the Sox went on to win...He came out and enjoyed the moment and smiled and waved.

Class fucking act. I wish more athletes has a ounce of what this guy has.

I just can't see how you can not like this guy? I mean yes he is a Yankee and has killed the Red Sox but man what a class act!

Great respect by the fans at Fenway as well that's for sure and I had no idea he signed the bullpen wall... Now that's cool!

Was it really necessary to use a 2004 theme for the 'tribute?'

Wouldn't you be a "class act" too if you had earned over $169,000,000 to pitch 3 innings a week for the last 20 years ($132,583 for ever inning)?

Wait... are you actually correlating the salary of a professional athlete to the likelihood of him being a decent human being?

in most cases it goes the other way. You make all that money and you become an asshole.

I thought it was great that they did the "roast" thing and brought up 04 and all that and Mo took it in stride with a smile. Then there were some really nice gifts and a good ovation from the fans and players. Very nice.

The guy is really a class act in every aspect and a great ambassador for the game. I hate the Yanks but this guy I admire and respect. I think if you were to poll every player in the game they would unanimously sing this guys praises. That speaks volumes.
