Tough to get old, LOL

I was doubtful that he'd be able to make it back by Indian Wells.

But then when he started practicing, I thought he'd play.

Good to see him taking a longer break, but then adding Monte Carlo.

I would still consider adding one more, Rome.

That would still give him 1 week of rest before the FO, but also give him 3 weeks off in between tourneys.

I also like how he's confident he'll be back in Indian Wells next year.

That would make sense. He should only play a couple before the US open as well. Just warm ups for majors at this point.

Did they remove Cincy from the schedule due to the Olympics this year?

Forgot all about the Olympics actually. I am not sure.

ESPN schedule is fucked up. Looks like it will be taking place just as Olympics tennis is wrapping up. Cincy is from August 13-21. Think Fed plays Toronto as a tuneup for the Olympics or do you think he will just rest for that month?

I think he will if he does not pull out of the olympics.

I think he should only play the Olympics, then the USO.

Although a part of me would like to see if he can win another Cincinnati (would be 8th overall) and continue to keep Djokovic from winning it.

Time is just about up for him it seems.

He should play 8 or 9 tournaments a year tops. He could play another year or 2 doing that and be somewhat competitive. Anything more will just grind him down.

I have no idea why he was even planning on playing both Madrid and Rome in the first place. Two tuneups seems like plenty. I disagree with 8-9. A good Fed schedule could be:

Brisbane
Aussie
Dubai
Indian Wells
Monte Carlo
Madrid (or Rome)
French Open
Halle
Wimbledon
Cincy
US Open
Shanghai
Basel (Or Paris)
ATP World Tour Finals

He needs to stay in the top four. If he's not there or getting there, there is no point to continue. And playing 8 tournaments per year is pretty much giving up any hope of being in the top four.
