Detroit Lions' Joseph Fauria suffers ankle injury in household accident, to undergo MRI | MLive.com




Fauria injured himself with a "misstep" around his home Wednesday night, according to coach Jim Caldwell. He will undergo an MRI and his status for Sunday's game against the New York Jets is uncertain.


"One of those innocent things, I guess, around the house," Caldwell said. "Ended up misstepping and twisting his ankle."


Fauria's status against New York won't be known until the team receives the results of the MRI, but Caldwell's forthrightness about the injury -- he dropped the news in response to a question about rookie Eric Ebron -- could be an indicator the Lions worry it might be serious.

I told you the Lions needed to find a way to get him the damn ball. Since the coaches wouldn't do -- I had to take action myself. No reason to keep throwing to Fauria when you have a guy you drafted 10th overall. No better way to get up to speed in the NFL as real game experience.

Fauria said he injured the ankle when he missed the last two steps of a wooden staircase at home while running down them to prevent his three-month old half-Pomeranian half-Husky dog, Lil Rufio, from urinating in the house.
