for you local guys, the asian guy (i cant even say kid because he's 29 years old) who ended up burning 4 cars worked with my brother way back in the day at A&B Sound

for anyone thats "out for justice", I think his current employer (Visions Electronics on Kingsway in Burnaby) did not fire him ... yet

I like what the young kid did. That takes a lot of guts, and he's humbling himself a LOT. I think he should definitely have a second chance. I agree that a scholarship should be taken away and he should have to complete many hours of community service, but his whole career shouldn't be ruined.

I understand the "second chance" mentality, but the guy needs to pay the price for what he did. I can't believe he hasn't even been charged yet. He didn't smash a window or have an instantenous reaction to the cops and resist arrest... he lit a fucking police car on fire in the middle of a crowd! I have a hard time believing a "good kid" just gets carried away and does that.

That's a serious crime, it's dangerous, and his second chance should come after he serves whatever time/penalty is appropriate.

It does take balls to stand up and admit what you did was wrong. It also takes a terrible lawyer to let him do that when he hasn't been charged.

a still picture is worth a thousand words but he didnt actually end up setting the car on fire.

upon further review (lol), video shows he stuffed that rag in the gas cap lit it and then lit a piece of paper on fire and threw it in the front seat ... a bystander ran in and pulled the paper out of the front seat and then also kicked the burning rag out of the car.

so attempted arson I guess ... VPD has millions of images of people committing crimes ... charges will come ... slow process though

The kid wanted to stand up and admit what he did, and apologize. In one of my previous posts, I said he should pay his debt to society, ie Vancouver and Canada, AND do hundreds, of not thousands of hours of community service, and he should go to schools and speak to other young Canadians about what he did, tell them how wrong it was, and the price he's paying. I think he should be responsible for replacing the police car he set on fire also. It's just a matter of time before he's charged as I think they're going through so much evidence for so many people. I'll be disappointed if everyone involved doesn't feel the full extent of the law. Vancouver, and Canada, has to show this kind of behavior won't be tolerated.

The Vancouver Humane Soceity has launched their annual campaign against the Calgary Stampede and have advised William and Kate to not visit on their Canadian tour:

In a letter sent to the newlyweds, VHS executive director Debra Probert called the Stampede “a brutal spectacle of cruelty that subjects animals to unnecessary pain, stress and fear” and a false representation of Canadian culture.

Mind your own garden first, Debra...
