It's time to look towards this Sunday. Can our team turn themselves around in game 3? The lions haven't won in DC ever. Will it happen this week? Thoughts?

I think we can right the ship, see improvement on all sides of the ball, and finally get a win. Truly, it would be hard to play any worse.

However, if we see the same basically flawed fundamental football, anemic offense, terrible game planning/adjustment and lack of execution this week, I will have to completely revisit my expectations about the heart, character and talent level of this team.

Teams are never as good or as bad as they look. Any given Sunday, and all that. Particularly in the first few weeks of the season. Until week 6, when we have a good sample size of games, I'm sticking to this line of thinking.

I expect we will win. I think our defense will again struggle against the pass (Megatron will have a field day), but we will get a handful of sacks and we will do much better against the run.

On offense, we finally get it going. We start to open up the playbook. RG3 will have 50 yds rushing which will free everything up. I'll say he goes 22-30 with 275 yds and 3 TDs. Morris will be around 100 yds rushing. Garcon will have 7 receptions for 80 yards and Jordan Reed will have 2 TD receptions.

Of course there is no logical reason for this prediction other than I think we are a better football team than we have shown so far and we are due to break out.

In the event we lay another egg, expect the boos to be frequent and loud.

I am not ready to jump off a ledge quite yet, but I am not going to make any excuses if we lose in Week 3.

Week 1 vs Philly, we probably win that game if we don't have 3 turnovers on our first 3 possessions. It doesn't matter how terrible the D looked, the Eagles were still blitzing and pressing in the 2nd half when we were putting up points. Play the field position game in the first half and not give the ball on our side of the field and it may have been another story.

Week 2 in GB, I didn't expect to win this game when the schedules came out. Plain and simple, 'Skins may be a playoff team and then anything goes, but I do not think we are better than the Packers. Didn't think it last July, and don't know. The Loss here didn't upset me nearly as much as Week 1, but the dreadful play did.

I predicted 2-2 by the Bye back on ESPN when we were all on there (with wins over Philly and Oakland), now I just hope I'm still right but the W's come from Detroit and Oakland. RG3 really took off in his 3rd game at Baylor when coming off his ACL injury and the rest is history, so hopefully that trend continues this Sunday. I expect to run the ball a lot early and a lot of slants/screens early - I've been reading a lot that RG3's confidence may be waning a bit and to be honest I tend to agree with this assessment. Remember how we started the Saints game in 2012? I can see something similar to that.

CHeck out Cali being the voice of reason.

BUt I got to agree with you. If we look this bad come week six and all the games in between, then its time to panic.

If we look this bad for the first 6 games, its way past the panic stage. Of course, there will be one team that will be very happy......STL. Hello high first round pick!

This is a monster game for the Skins IMO. I think they are the better team, but Detroit is a scary team when you face a must win. Detroit plays below their talent each week, but when they put together a clean game, they are a handful. The Redskins will need to force some turnovers against Stafford because he is going to get his yards. Detroit's DL is outstanding, but their back 7 is so so at best.

No way we look this bad 6 games in. I refuse to lose faith that Griff and our O will not improve. As long as we are competitive in games, I do not mind a loss. We cant conveniently forget that Griff is coming off major surgery. We're only 2 games in. It's what I've seen so far in lack of execution and game calling, if THAT continues to be the norm, it is indeed panic time.

I agree with your points and that this is a huge game for the Skins but I'm not so sure that i agree with the point that this is a MUST win. What's most important is that we SHOW up to play in the first quarter/half and play strong for an entire game of football. Otherwise, there are far more problematic concerns for us in the 2013 season than just this game.

The only reason I say it's a must win for your team is that when a team starts 0-3, their chances of making the playoffs is around 1% traditionally. I'd say this is a huge week for Dallas as well. The one thing both squads have going for them is that it looks like 9-7 might win the division(though not a prayer in the wildcard), but still, 0-3 means a 9-3 finish is necessary just to get there. I'd say thats close to a must

Washington has to be aggresive on Offense like we were last year.
Run the ball and make some big plays down field.

You're right regarding the stats and I do feel that this is as close to a must win in terms of playoffs this year. To me, the LONG term picture for this team is still more important. I've stated before, that I think 2014 will truly be the breakout year for the Skins but we have a legitimate shot to have a good season this year. I still believe that.

Patience is the key. However, there are a few factors that have to be taken into account this year that is different from most years. First, we have a QB returning from major surgery who is still finding his rhythm and our team is still trying to find its new offensive identity. Second, the NFC East is arguably the worst division in the NFL this year.Stats do not take this into account.

Much as I hate to say it, the boys are looking the best in the division to so far, imo. Only based on the 2 game sample of course, but consistency will be the key for you all.

Cali... the only problem with the 2014 projection is, if the team doesnt look atleast solid this year, Im not sure if Mike and Kyle are back next year. Which would mean all bets are off going forward. If this team doesnt pull head out of ass and atleast finish in the playoffs hunt, I cant see Dan being patient. As much as we say Garrett in Dallas is on the hot seat, the only coach who is actually safe in the NFC East right now is Kelly in Philly.

If the team doesn't eventually look solid this year, than all bets are off. You are right Shark.

Skins will win on Sunday. Everyone needs to take a deep breath, and calm down. This TEAM, IMO is still the best TEAM in the NFCE. Silly ass Cowboy fans who think the Cowboys are better than this TEAM, need to hit their local Walmart up for more $4 prozac!...the Boys sit at #25 in defense, and the Skins are at #32. Really?

The Cowboys are impressive with the "new cover 2" @#25 in defense with games against the #5 offense of NY and the #26 offense of KC.

The Redskins are #32 in defense with a games against the #1 offense of GB and the #2 offense of Philly. OK, great. They both played the Skins. But, Philly racked up 511 against SD and GB racked up 385 against SF. Can you hear me now?

There is no doubt in my mind that the real Cowboy team and the Giants, are worried about playing the Skins. The Shanahan boys have figured out how to beat teams within their division...unfortunately, with the new regime in Philly they were caught with their pants down...I doubt it happens in the 2nd meeting.

Oh by the way...Redskins are #6 in total offense, and the arena football league Cowboys are #24...Like the ticket oak commercial dude says "whaaaat"

Hail to you brothers and sisters, its good to be a Redskins fan!

I do expect Calvin Johnson to have a field day against our secondary, the offense has to do a better job with sustaining drives..and the defense has to do a better job against the run and they have to do a better job tackling.

Our secondary sucks so bad, I don't know how to be confident as a fan in us winning. I just want to see RG3 continue to improve. With that said, Stafford is no Aaron Rodgers and we are desperate. Could happen.

Sad as it sounds, this team needs an air of desperation for them to pull heads out of asses. Its been 20 plus years since the redskins could go into a game as the favorites, and manage NOT to play down to the level of the other team. Shitty as it sounds, best thing for this team is to have their backs against the wall. Only then have they ever been able to play a complete game on both sides of the ball.
