That last paragraph is real telling in the fact they weren't a good team record wise against the rest of the division (mainly Brewers/Reds) last year except the Astros. And for the most part none of the other teams truly got worse vs last year. If they can figure out a way to beat the Brewers then that will help.

They were .422 vs the other teams (in division) and .706 vs the Astros.

Schoenfield seems to be in a very similar place as I am.

- On one hand, the Pirates' moves could work out (for a change), and they could break the streak.

- On the other, Schoenfield criticizes NH for getting so little in his initial round of trades, asserts that Huntington's job probably is on the line in 2013, and expresses several doubts about the team.

That's exactly where I am. I continue to have serious doubts..... and expect some kind of disaster(s) to strike..... and have nagging feelings that the Pirates will finish with a worse record in 2013. Meanwhile, I continue to HOPE for a winning season.

BaseballProspectus predicts we win 79.

More importantly imo, Vegas does too.

We have so many maybes and question marks.. Its just a matter of our young players establishing themselves. At least we have 3 elite talents in Cole, Marte and Snyder this year vs Alvarez last year. IF they all do well, we have a great young core. IF they all flame out get hurt ect, the end of the streak will not be in sight.

If I were a betteing man, and I am not, I would most assuredly take the under. I can actually see a scenario where we end the season with a starting rotation of Cole, Karstens, Morton, Locke, and McPherson, providing that Karstens and McPherson don't get hurt, in which case the rotation would be decidedly worse.
