You are one mixed-up fan. Your favorite teams are all over the place. Why not root for teams near your home? Wherever it is.
I've always wondered why this is a common thought process. The teams I root for are scattered across the country because they had my favorite players when I was a kid.

That's faulty reasoning. I'll root for teams with my favorite players, but they'll never be the team I'm a fan of.

That said, do as you please.

How is that reasoning any different than just picking a team in your state? Thats just silly. Before the internet it took more effort to follow teams outside of your region, so by that reasoning does that make me a better fan than you? Sadly, if I had just rooted for the home teams I'd be rolling in championships with the 9ers and Giants. I picked teams with my favorite players as a child and stuck with those teams for 25+ years.

Yes, they can, if even if they are disfunctional! :)

It's quite easy. Grew up in central illinois, moved to STL, then moved to the beach in Florida.

U still stuck in Philly?

Funny that's all u could hit Me with. I wish u all the luck with your new QB. It will be interesting to see if he gets healthy and if he beats out Sanchez.

Gotta follow the local teams with the local people man. I guess now you know the consequences of that unholy and unnatural decision haha. But your commitment is commendable.:suds:

What ages were you when you were in SF and NY?

I completely agree with you. I had the same history. Fell in love with defense and Cunningham when he was drafted, been a life long fan now no matter what happens now. Actually, a case can be made that it is quite mindless to just pick the team that you live closest to. That said, we are often influenced in youth by what we feel an attachment to. For most, that will be a team that is closest in proximity, or a team that your father/family/closest friends liked. I must confess, I am guilty of child abuse as my son is a die hard eagles fan, and we are not from PHI either. What I think is moronic is people not accepting fellow fans, and looking for a reason to be divisive when none is really necessary.

back to Bradford... I feel like it's drinking Kool-Aid to expect much out of him. But I do hope he becomes this incredible player people link to his potential. Hard to find that realistic given the injury history. Injuries tend to lower potential. But stranger things have happened. Who would have bet on the grocery boy to win a SB? :)

I think it starts when you attend a game. My first game at FSU was back in 1997-1998 I think - with Weinke, Pete Warrick, Laverneous Coles, and Corey Simon was a beast. Bobby Bowden is still the man.

First Rams was with Tony Banks and Lawrence Phillips - the only good thing was those old school unis. Then 2 years later, a magic bean started growing and all of a sudden our team was unreal.

First Bulls game was the best. :) MJ, Pippen.. What a squad that was. Wish we could beat Cleveland and hope we bring our A game tonight.

I admit that I really don't care for the Bulls back then and now. However, I actually got to meet this guys in person, along with Dennis Rodman, Ron Harper, and Bill Wennington during the '96-'97 season outside a Chicago bar. They had a game against the Milwaukee Bucks that night. The party was really about Dennis Rodman. That dude knows how to get the party going and the young fine ladies were all on him. Very cool time. I was in the Navy then going to school up at Great Lakes.

I grew up in the Bay Area and had to memorize the team by their helmets on plater my older brother had. There were only 28 teams then. :D Loved the Eagles helmet and have been a die hard fan ever since. I used to subscribe to Eagles Digest before the internet so I could stay up on all the Eagles news. You can't help how you pick your team.

As far as Bradford goes. He does have an injury history and is a better QB of this system than Foles. I hope we get lucky and he reaches his potential here. I just can't imagine Chip and the Eagles doing this if our doctors didn't think the knee was going to be 100%.

Similar for me... and I am of the opinion that once you have picked a team, you stick with it.

Chose Ajax Amsterdam in the mid 1980's (about as far from my place in the country as you could get) for soccer, the Blue Jays for baseball because the first I saw was when they were in the world series (and their stadium looked cool then), picked the Eagles and Flyers during my first stay in the US (Eagles had as much to do with the geography of where I stayed as with two of my friend rooting for the Steelers and Redskins; Flyers both with going to a game as well as Lindros being part of the team as part of the Legion of Doom; Lindros' performance at the Albertville Winter Olympics was the reason I got into hockey at all), basketball I am obliged to root for the Pacers (thank you Rick Smits), and college sports UH (since I spent a semester there).

I also know of quite a few people who picked their teams based on who their family or friends were rooting for - and usually they decided to pick another if not a rival team.

If not having already picked the Eagles, I would probably have ended up rooting for the Rams, simply because of having seen Warner play in person in Amsterdam...

:agree: I was born in Texas, Dallas county, My father moved my family to Arkansas when I was young. Obviously Arkansas has no pro team. My whole family supports the criminals of Dallas. Because of regional broadcasts we got the Cowards games. That is where my young eyes saw the magic of Randall and Reggie. My moral compass(and maybe a small dislike of my extended family) turned me away. I could not believe that anyone would root for cocaine using, hooker paying, drug dealing, crack smoking, mother robbing, drunk driving scum. I was 10 or so then, now I'm 36 and live in Arlington TX and am still an eagles fan, and the Cowboys are still all the things listed above plus some I didn't list.

Why should it matter where I live if I make good life choices?:D

Was listening to sports talk radio the other morning and I believe it was an Inquirer reporter came on and basically said if Bradford sucks its because he does, but if he plays well its because of Chip's offense and any Quarterback could play well, so regardless, they need a new quarterback next year. What an idiot. :L

Steve Spags, the new NYG DC and former HC of the Rams when Bradford was there, he spoke about Sam and gave a huge endorsement. Of course now, the local ALL Mariota station is now coming around on Bradford... hilarious stuff. Basically you have hosts admitting to finally watching some video on Sam Bradford and liking what they see. "He can make all the throws, and you see a lot of drops" LOL ... now it went to "if Bradford plays 14 games and they make it into the playoffs, it should be NFC title game or bust for this season" LOL
