I don't see how this can be argued. I said it from the second it happened this was dirty and a shanaban was forthcoming.

Player was already engaged, left feet well before contact, and got his arms up right in the face. If he just holds back on doing one of those things, he probably doesn't get anything.

TBH

If he had his blades on the ice I could understand any outrage towards the suspension. He does not though. He left his feet and had his elbows up high.

3 games is fine to me. Before anyone says then Lucic deserved 3 for that hit. I would also agree with that. Lucic is a repeat offender and should have got more then a game.

Exactly. If his blades never leave the ice I dont think anything happens.

I got no problem with the suspension, after watching Shanahan's highlight video. The player was in a vulnerable position, already being checked by another Pens player, Engo left his feet, delivered a forearm to the head, and did it three feet from the boards. Stupid play from an otherwise clean but hard-nosed player.

As for Kronwall, he does leave his feet, but none of the other elements of Engelland's hit are there, so I can see why he got off free.

So I have no problem with either of those, or with Pacioretty's suspension. How Rinaldo on Bortuzzo doesn't even get a look from Shanahan... I guess getting highlighted on the TSN intermission panel works against you in some cases.

Orpik: "There have just been so many hits that we don't see get punished that you think maybe some things are allowed."
And this is the biggest issue with consistency.

Thanks for the definition Brooks.....:noide:

As for the hit, I watched it cold, after the punishment with no real love for either team and thought it was pretty nasty. I was fine with 3 games. The head seemed to be the target, the other player was already engaged and the hitter left his feet. Just my :2cents:

Well put. These are pretty much my thoughts. It was a dangerous hit.

Have you considered applying for Shanahan's job?

Also, the video itself says it took Krugers injury into account. Hell, Bortuzzo was elbowed by Rinaldo, got injured, and they didn't even review it.

Um...no. Nice try though Pix. ;)

Your white box is very convincing? Hahaha (this could be my internet, in which case ignore that comment).

Rinaldo should have been suspended for it. I'd love to hear someone defend that hit. Rinaldo has his elbow elevated about his shoulder. What's he doing that for? Just stretching it with the extra help of Bortuzzo's dome? Meanwhile, Robbie hasn't played since that hit. And that is my biggest problem with Shanahan. He lacks consistency. That hit is no less dangerous that Patches hit, or Engo's hit. The head was targeted.

Shanahan sucks at his job just as much as his predecessor did.

I'd disagree with saying it's as dangerous as the Patches/Engo hit, but if Engo is getting three games, Rinaldo should at least be getting a freaking call. They didn't even call him for an elbow to the head that injured the player. THAT'S my issue with it. Talk about no consistency.

Bortuzzo obviously was concussed from it. He hasn't played since, and just like Letang, there's no timeline for when he returns. He targeted Robbie's head, and Sheriff shitforbrains just allows it to go away. Just like the two times Cooke has been targeted, this season.

Expecting to agree with every call a ref / commissioner / judge etc... makes is unrealistic. It won't be any different with Shanahan. But to think there isn't more consitency / explanation / accounatbility over his predecessor is pretty forgetful.
