Yeah, it does look like he was surprised by the punch. Prust seemed to still be focused on the play and never expected Staal to wing him one.

It's kinda odd how he turned after getting punched though. Never seen that before.

I think him going down isn't surprising, I mean if you're not expecting it then yeah, you'll probably fall even if it is a light punch. It's how he just stayed on the ice that irked me a bit. The dude just tussled with Engo previously in the game, I think he can take a punch.

hard to tell didnt seem like staal had to much behind it and he did look to go down real easy but at the same time i cant see going down for no reason being beneficial to prusts reputation as a tough guy hard call

VERY VERY dumb. I think he just got a bit emotional at that moment for some reason and acted implusively. Geno's rubbing off Very un-like Jordan really, at least at this point in his career. The biggest reason it's stupid: they have a game tomorrow and he's facing a suspension while his team is clearly in need of bodies. Asham may be out, Geno is 50/50 still, we may need to call up Tangradi or Johnson as it is...but now we may be without him.

The logical part of my brain says 2 people have been suspended for sucker punches in the last month, so Staal will get something on top of the match penalty.

Yeah, they certainly can. I mean, if I were his trainer on the bench and saw him take that punch and stay down grasping his head I'd think concussion...but clearly he was 'fine'. So, the trainer in me steps aside and the biased fan steps in and calls him a diver

He wasn't engaged in a fight though. There was no gloves dropped, there was no reason to expect a suckerpunch when the puck was right there in the area. He was supposed to be concentrating on the play.

Meh. I have no dog in the fight. It's just my two cents. IMO, the squirrel could take both of them in a fight.
