I wouldn't want Sean Payton as head coach or O coordinator.......The Saints, and their offense, are boring.
The DALLAS COWBOY'S personality (when they were successful) over the years has been about a balanced offense.

The 70's COWBOYS actually ran the ball 59% of the time......different era right? maybe.....
they went to the playoffs 9 out of 10 years....5 super bowl appearances ...won 2
record of 119 wins ...46 losses

The 90's COWBOYS in their 4 year Super Bowl run........They ran the ball 52% of the time.
Went to 4 NFC Championship games.....won 3 Super Bowls...59 wins and 16 losses ...
.different era?........ maybe

2014 COWBOYS....ran the ball 52% of the time........won 13 games and lost 5 .....it works in this era??

What do all these teams have in common

the will to run the ball
GREAT OFFENSIVE LINES
great pocket passing QBs
command time of possession...and our defensive teams benefited

I would have to disagree. Payton has won a Super Bowl, and has consistently put a Super Bowl worthy offense on the field in N.O. IMO, if you get Payton, you spend extra putting together a defense and roll on

I think he became way more popular with Cowboys fans after he left Dallas.

Sign me up for Sean Payton. Let him be head coach and manage the offense. He makes average offensive players look great. IMO, he's way ahead of JG as a sideline coach. Also seems to have a good relationship with Jerry, and the Jones'.

Again, it's about the DNA of the COWBOYS and their history....And why does the COWBOY'S offense of 2014 need fixing? The COWBOYS were ranked 5th in points and 7th in yards.....

The Saints in 2014 were ranked 20th in points and 9th in yards.......Brees in 2014, threw the ball 659 TIMES.....This season he's on pace to throw it 620+ times........That's stupid.....It's no wonder Brees has had shoulder problems...It makes my shoulder sore just posting those numbers.

Can you imagine the 2014 COWBOYS with the 1992 COWBOY's defense? There's nothing wrong with their balanced offense/power running scheme. It's worked in three different decades......and it will work in this era.

Brees threw it 659 times in 2014, but how about the year they won the Super Bowl? They had a great ground game. And that 1992 Cowboys D? Having Jimmy and making the HWalker deal might have helped that a little bit

The Saints did. When they were at their best, they were always near the league leaders in Team Rushing.

If we had Drew Brees we would throw it a lot more too. I don't think that is a fair comparison. And our ratio (pass to run) was higher than theirs in 2012 and 2013...

I want Peyton, only after his con tract expires. Trading a 1st round pick for a coach is dumb

And one point I forgot to bring up.........the 70's,90's, and 2014 COWBOY'S offense traveled well to away games.......In 2014 we were 8 wins and 1 loss in road games.....could have been maybe perfect. with a little luck. A pass and touch offense, like the Saints, doesn't play that well, in cold, December, away games.

Payton prefers a punch you in your teeth offense. He maximizes what he has

You're telling me Sean Payton has no say so, in who the Saints draft? You're saying Sean Payton has no say so, in the direction of his team. They could have a balanced offense, if he wanted to go in that direction. Parcells had him in that direction when he was o coordinator in DALLAS. And I hope you're not comparing the COWBOY'S offenses of the 70's,90's and 2014 with his? I never realized a dink and dunk offense was a punch you in your teeth type offense. nerver occurred to me.

I guess I don't see your point. He would never be the GM here, just the HC, and his ability as a playcaller has never been in question. Since they won the Super Bowl, they have drafted Mark Ingram in the 1st round, in hopes of having a between the tackles hammer. They missed, making them one of 32 teams that miss on a player from time to tiime

On a side, it's all moot, Stephen said Red isn't going anywhere

It is not about a running game or a passing game. To win championships you must win the trenches. We have a good enough O-line to do so with room. (no threat in the passing game hurts the running game) now we must invest in the defensive side of the trenches.

It is not sexy, but the trenches wins the championships. (no matter if you are a passing team or running team) the Niners in the 80's created the dink & dunk & had one of the best teams in history.
