Maybe Buck is doing the lefty/righty matchup against Phil Hughes, kind of like how he used Tommy Hunter and his .906 OPS-vs-lefties against the Yankees' top 2 lefty power hitters last night.

Or maybe Betimet is Buck's guy, like Teagarden. The Orioles lost 8 in a row and 9 of 10 in Teagarden's starts the last 2 months, but Buck was shocked that his favorite backup catcher was waived.
The Orioles are 5-1 in Chris Snyder's starts. But Snyder is not in the 'club', the club where Nick Markakis and Jim Johnson have lifetime memberships.

Murphy's law of transactions in pro sports:
1. The player that you don't sign / re-sign will underperform against any other team except yours.
2. If you trade away a struggling player, he will play better. Especially against your team.
3. Slumps only occur after you acquire a player in a trade. For extra insult, the prospect you give up to get him will be starting for his new team... and help beat yours.
4. ...in the postseason, if you get there.

Same story with the pitching, scared in the first few innings then settle down in the 4th once the game is out of reach.

This is the weakest team the yankees have fielded in years and we still choke against them. Just wait till they have the money to reload once they void a-roid's contract.

28-31 record in the division. 16-26 record in 1 run games. Wasted year.

Hate to say this... but the cold truth might be this: Maybe the team didn't choke; instead, it's simply not good enough. From the standpoint of expected record, 2012 was a fluke: the Orioles overperformed by 11 games. On the other hand, the 2013 Orioles are exactly where they should be-- that's regression to the mean for you.

Translation: This team needs to get better at drafting and developing players... and maybe spend more on the right players. Otherwise, 4th place in the AL East could be its place for a while.

Its over.....another big series at home and we lose 3 of 4. I don't see us above .500 by the end of the year. Time to watch football.

I can take one bad season... the question is whether that statement could turn into "I don't see us above .500 before 2030." :omg:

They need another starter(or two)with a bulldog mentality, alot of these guys are timid when push comes to shove. Plus a new hitting coach who can teach plate discipline and fundamentals.

Well I don't see it getting better. Boston looks like it has the pitching to be around a while which means we are looking for that wild card every year. And without an ace....odds are we won't advance beyond that game.
